I was member of the team looking after Mizado.com -- our electronics vertical of e-commerce store. We use to start our day hosting a short stand-up SCRUM meeting discussing individual progress on tickets filed in JIRA (issue tracker).
As a senior member, my tickets were mix bag of features and bug fixes. Envisioning, conceptualizing, and implementing features as per business requirements were my responsibilities.
Our project was fundamentally divided into three main tiers; customer front-end, operations back-end, and processing back-end. Implementing new features would require working on all tiers. We used Zend & Yii Frameworks, Solr Search Engine, Memcache, and other hosts of technologies. JSON RPC, Web services, and Message Queues were used for inter-tiers communication.
I also undertook special mini-projects such-as improving and optimizing performance of our inter-tier communication channels, using optimized MySQL DML queries for exporting large data-sets, etc.
Shortly before departure, I was tasked as our Release Manager who was suppose to assemble deployment packages by merging code from various Git branches, versioning releases, deploy on pre-production and production environments, etc.
Responsible for developing and maintaining Shayyik.com which is our social entertainment portal for Arabic TV in the region. Built-on Zend Framework with Doctrine ORM, MySQL 5 RDBMS, HTML, CSS 2.1, JavaScript, jQuery & jQuery UI, and hosted on Rackspace Cloud Computing platform with Akamai CDN. Version currently under development is now powered by NodeJS, Socket.IO, LessCSS, requireJS, and Redis (NoSQL store).
