I have three main responsibilities as a network administrator and they are as follow:
Assess, review, and mentor related IT/OT project that going to be implemented in the site.
Comply with company standards and procedures.
Manage and maintain Industrial Control Systems network security and network services.
I have done several in-house upgrade projects which saved money for my company. One of the in-house upgrade is to upgrade the whole network infrastructure which gave me a strong hands on skills in the field of network management. The second one is upgrade a high availability firewall operating system. This achievement was great for me from learning point of view. I knew how to backup up the system, downloaded necessary OS version, and follow vendor procedure to conduct and complete the upgrade successfully and smoothly.
There were minor and major projects. Minor projects such as fixing design issues in a given scenario by highlighting the issues and provide the solution for it either by changing the media connection or by considering a more capable network device. Major project was in the end of my bachelor degree study. It was about integrating 2 servers with network simulator “GNS3” to create a virtual environment. The two servers were one Active Directory and one Linux server utilized to automate the configuration of network switches. The configuration includes (Login IDs and their passwords, OSPF, Radious, Vlans, VTP, and Port security).
