The Drain Surgeon in Lakeside
May 2009 to Present
The Drain surgeon one of the biggest plumbing companies in the southern hemisphere. I worked as a plumber giving training to my assistant plumber.
At the drain surgeon I familiarized with various plumbing equipment. High pressure jetting machines the big one and a small one, gas and sound leak detecting equipment, pipe detectors. I did a lot of afterhours work. Being called out in the middle of the night for a block toilet or a burst geyser ect.
A plumbing manager position opened and the owner offered me a position as a plumbing manager. I managed 13 plumbers including their plumbing assistants.
My responsibilities were:
Purchasing of all the chemicals within the branch in Cape Town. Bottling and packaging as well.
I also took care of their dress codes which entailed purchasing of the uniform as well. Vans, stock in there vans, tools and all machinery within the company.
I also did tracking and monitoring of their vehicles this had to be checked on a regular basis being that the guys being on standby taking there vans home. This was done on weekly bases. I also managed our clients, invoicing, advising and all quoting within the branch me and the owner working very close with this. I also took care of the yard and removal of waste from the premises and sites. This was dropped off at the local land fill.
After I left the company I still have strong ties with them doing Plumbing COC`s for the company.
Workshop Trainee
When I started with them I worked in the work shop. I gained a lot of experience on various printers. Such as Lexmark, Toshiba, IBM, Dell, Epson, HP and various point of sale scanners. And stock take scanners, symbol scanner hand held and wireless.
Preventative Maintenance technician
I was moved to the preventive maintenance team also known as PM`s where I worked in a team doing various stores. Shoprite, Checkers, hungry lion, house and homes. We would clean all computers and printers do site audits and tag all the equipment in the stores. This information would be scanned and emailed to our head office in JHB.
Foschini Installations site in Montague Gardens:
After that they moved me to the Foschini installation site. Where we did the whole role out for South Africa. This is where I familiarised myself with HP printers, Mecer computers, Mecer 14 inch screens and USB cables. We user to ghost the images from the host server.
The Stores server, Branch server and tills would be setup at the installation site, hp printers, Epson slip printers and all scanners will all be checked and package and sent all around South Africa.
We would then go to various stores around Cape Town installing these machines and setting it up.
We also did site audits and tagging of the equipment onsite this was all put on a data base by our head office in JHB.

My responsibility was my boot stock and my IR book these books had to be stamped by our various clients.
I maintained all the retail IT equipment in these stores.
Shoprite Group, Foschini Group, Woolworths, Caltex, Mr Price Group, Truworths and Cashbuild Hardware’s.
I got top 10 performers in the country for 6 months.
I was also sent to JHB South Africa to reduce the amount of calls in an around the JHB surrounding areas as well.

Till support, printer support, pin pad support, printer driver support, server support we would do the first line support before escalating it to the field.
I worked in this team till September 2008 when I decided to further my studies in the plumbing field.
