➢ Administering secure email system of the financial intelligence department (UAE Central Bank) in relation to search/freeze requests and RFI (request for information) received from banking supervision department (UAE Central Bank) by taking necessary action as per their instructions.
➢ Ensuring responses to UAE Central Bank are accurate and are made available to them via their secure email system within TAT.
➢ Managing the receipt and handling (including follow-up) regulatory queries, which are originating from financial intelligence department (UAE Central Bank) apart from their secure email system and law enforcement agencies and ensure such requests have been responded in a timely manner keeping in view of its sensitivity.
➢ Conducting investigations on customers’, as directed by the senior management/Head of AML/compliance intelligence unit manager and preparing suspicious transaction reports (STR) on such customers’, which deemed necessary within the deadlines.
➢ Assisting law enforcement agencies in their ongoing investigations by providing them with due diligence reports including analysis, comments and recommendation along with relevant documents to substantiate the case.
➢ Initiate due diligence on customers’ based on “tip-off” information received from financial intelligence department and take appropriate steps within the timeline to mitigate any risk associated with such customers’.
➢ Rendering assistance to the compliance intelligence unit manager/Head of AML on projects and initiatives.
Multi tasks :
➢ Compiling management information related to team productivity (which includes alerts and cases in transaction monitoring system), number of suspicious transaction reports (STR) reported vs. cases, and any other management information, as may be requested by the management and adhere compliance in maintaining accuracy, completeness and delivery within timelines.
Review Payment Screening System (PSS) alerts:
➢ Review alerts pertaining to outward payments of Emirates NBD customers to ensure such payments are not made to sanctioned countries/individuals by performing more enhanced due diligence and make sure it is within the scope of group sanctions policy.
➢ Undertake name search in the bank database vs. names listed as part of the updates received from HMT, EU, OFAC and UN and ensure to mitigate sanctions/money laundering risk pertaining to matches identified if any as per our records and update the senior management accordingly.
➢ Raising the red flag to the respective internal stakeholders such as business units’ to adhere compliance by exiting and reporting suspicious transaction reports on such customers’ to the financial intelligence department (UAE Central Bank) in a timely manner.
➢ Conducting review and approve/decline customers’ who have been classified under the group policy as “High Risk” based on their nature of business, nationality, country, business location and if any direct/indirect link/association with any sanctioned nation or incorporated in a jurisdiction where it lacks money laundering controls and involvement of any PEP or associated to a PEP.
➢ Performing enhanced due diligence on the account opening requests received from new correspondent banking relationships prior to onboarding such customers’.
➢ Review correspondent banking relationships AML questionnaire and provide response in light with the group policy.
➢ Responding to correspondent banking RFIs’ (payments related to inward and outward) within agreed TAT post conducting enhanced due diligence and detailed analysis from AML/sanctions perspective on such RFI response received from the internal stakeholders.
➢ Proposing recommendations to the senior management for any identified red flags based on the outcome of due diligence with regards to RFI/PEP/correspondent banking relationships/declined high-risk customers’ account opening.
