My primary role entails the overall strategic marketing planning function for the organization and managing marketing department’s functions. Role specifics include developing business plans and relevant sales and marketing action plans for the portfolio of products and services. I lead a team of 08 members and spear head media partnerships, research projects, contract publishing and the event business of the company.
Publishers of the Sunday Times, Daily Mirror, Lankadeepa newspapers and Hi! Magazine; Wijeya Newspapers is Sri Lanka’s leading and largest publisher of daily and weekly print titles. As head of operations I was primarily responsible for the Advertising and Sales department that comprised field & telephone sales, booking, scheduling and customer care. I lead a team of 45 employees.
Core responsibilities included brand development, business development, strategic planning, marketing communication, budget planning and control, sales support services and liaison with Hong Kong regional office on marketing communication activities. Sales team motivation building activities were also a part of my job function as a secondary responsibility
My key responsibility at Bairaha was brand development of the poultry products and four supermarkets of the Group. I was also involved in the company’s sales operation by way of support services, key account management, distribution channel development, planning & implementation of advertising & promotions and liaising with suppliers & advertising agencies
I headed the overall marketing operations in the company. Under my supervision I was oversaw corporate and brand communication, research, customer care operations, distribution, new product development and Sales planning. As a Team leader managed 3 executives.
At Bates I was involved in formulating and executing strategic marketing communication plans and general management of the marketing communications requirements for clients/brands such as Hatton National Bank, Lanka Milk Foods, Stassen Foods, DHL, Sri Lankan Airlines, The ministry of Tourism, Mobitel Lanka, The Computer Centre and other clientele.
I was responsible for formulating and executing strategic marketing communication plans and general management of the marketing communications requirements of Union Assurance, Baurs, Forbes and Burgerland
3 1/2 year online/class base degree.
03 year post graduate diploma in Marketing Management.
Was awarded a 'Distinction' for the second best/highest results earned in this course.
