Digital Multi-Media Technician
To liaise with the Head of Faculty and the Head of ICT and other members of the teaching staff in the provision of practical equipment, its issue to students, return, tracking and testing within Media Studies and keeping accurate tracking records.
To deliver skills lessons to students and staff in teaching group sets in relation to use of the cameras, both moving and still image, Apple Mac and PC software (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premier Pro, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Audition, Adobe Flash, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Indesign and Adobe Master Collection) and other software as used in the Media Department. To support the Apple Mac integration into Windows and Windows network and other media equipment such as Digital Stills and Moving Image Camera's.
To provide in class support and training for students and staff in the use of equipment and software within media studies on a one to one or one to group/class basis including Microsoft Office and all Media related software and hardware.
To maintain Apple Mac and Windows computers in terms of software updates, student accounts, backups of work in progress, converting students audio and audio visual material, converting to digital and analogue tape formats as well ensure completed work is burnt to DVD-R, CD-R, audio tape, digital video tape and a variety of video and audio formats using MPEG Stream Clip and Adobe Soundbooth for longer term storage and archiving.
To undertake any bulk photocopying and reprographic duties as required for teaching staff and create hard copy and audio visual marketing materials.
To create assembly powerpoints for staff and inserting video and audio clips, testing and setting up main hall stage laptop, projector and run sound mixing desk, run radio and stage microphones.
To create, film and edit instructional and tutorial videos cross academy and upload to academy You Tube Channel.
To buy equipment, consumables and ensure that adequate supplies of materials are available for classes, including preparing requisition orders as required and help to tutors with teaching material creation for lessons both electronic and hard copy that can be upload to a virtual learning environment or printed as hard copy.

To research and develop ideas looking at new emerging technologies that may benefit learners and tutors across college courses and departments.
To assist in the preparation of information for compliance with current health and safety regulations.
To assist with the maintenance of appropriate records and ensure the safe storage of all items, equipment and materials.
To carry out routine maintenance work as required and to assist in annual stock taking.
To liaise with trade representatives, learners, tutors, visitors, the general public, support staff and suppliers and have excellent customer service skills.
To set up teaching aids and ensure their safe storage, e.g. computers, laptops, lighting, stage and recording/TV studio sound, audio equipment, mics, instruments and video/audio equipment, video and still cameras tripods, cables, PA systems, amplifiers and adhere to the college Health and Safety policy.

To assist in the provision of ICT support services within Media Studies.
To update and be responsible for Harris Academy Bermondsey Media Department You Tube, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Google + and Social Network Feeds, upload video/audio/digital image content and update with news of Acadamy events and tutor requirements.
To assist the other technician(s) and tutors within other areas of the college and administration and data entry tasks as required.
To ensure that the Disability Act and Child Protection Policy is enforced and that education is inclusive and does not exclude or discriminate.

Digital Media Technician at Imperial War Museum

1. Daily testing of the Museum's in-gallery audio-visual and multimedia systems.
2. Undertake remedial work to address faults in audio-visual and multimedia systems.
3. Internal and corporate events support, including the operation and occasional installation of public address, presentation and other AV equipment within the London branches.
4. Liaison with external clients and trouble-shooting in pressurised situations.
5. Assisting the specification, procurement, installation and movement of various. pieces of multimedia and interactive equipment in line with the next exhibitions across London, as well as other museum work, as directed by the Audio Visual Officer or other members of the New Media Department.
6. Working closely and successfully with other departments and key stakeholders across the museum to ensure the efficient, friendly and high-quality delivery of multimedia services.
7. Liaison with the Imperial War Museum corporate IT department, Facilities Management and HMS Belfast’s Electrical Officers in the furtherance of the efficiency of the AV systems.
8. Computer-based sound and film editing for exhibition and other purposes, often to tight deadlines.
9. Assisting the creation of new interactive exhibits as defined by the Multimedia Manager.
10. Occasional computer data entry
11. Copying of sound material, from a variety of different formats, into standard archive form, carried out on behalf of the Museum's Sound Archive.
12. Preparation of copy items, requested by members of the public and Museum staff, from the Museum's Sound Archive.
13. To comply with all relevant health and safety legislation with a view to ensuring the safety of staff, visitors and themselves; with particular attention being given to manual handling procedures.
14. To report potentially hazardous conditions to line management
15. To ensure all Risk Assessments are complied with.
16. Other duties that may be required by the Audio Visual Officer or other members of the New Media team.
