• Meeting with other professionals and clients at an early stage to agree on the project brief
• Address modifications desired by Client in co-ordination with Design Architect
• Liaising with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project
• Checking plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculations
• Overseeing the selection and requisition of materials
• Managing sites, including supervising and monitoring the work of any subcontractors
• Overseeing quality control, health and safety matters on site
• Liaising with clients and their representatives (architects, engineers and surveyors), including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of progress
• Acting as the main technical adviser on a construction site for subcontractors, crafts people and operatives and resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise
• Checking and preparing site reports, designs and drawings
• Motivating the workforce
