Project: 'Empowering persons with disabilities and injuries within the Syrian population affected by the crises’
The project is a regional initiative, with activities primarily based in Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq. Activities within the project are both country-specific and regional in nature. The project aims to strengthen the capacities of key leaders of the disability movement in the Middle East region. Though to build on such a movement within the Relief Response is a considered a pioneering approach for HI.
Key duties and responsibilities:
Leading the planning, implementation and monitoring of project activities in Jordan within the framework of the regional project and according to the budget dedicated.
Ensuring that activities in Jordan are implemented according to work-plans developed with the HI regional team and other HI country teams and the steering committee
Ensure that activities are led in direct synergy with other actions implemented by the HI emergency department and partners in Lebanon and Iraq.
Communicate regularly with HI regional teams and the HI country teams to ensure efficient coordination of actions within the regional project framework
Manage the project’s financial, logistical and material resources for activities in Jordan
Mapping of stakeholders of Syrian civil society groups
Building a database and social media to connect project partners and target groups
Training and mentoring of disability activists
Support to the development of DPOs/CSOs and peer support groups
Implementation of a micro-grant mechanism
Support to coordination and networking between DPOs with key stakeholders

Engaged with various schools, nurseries, and kindergartens as an English teacher, and a Special Needs teacher.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Provided home and school instruction, evaluation services, and other special education services to mentally, emotionally, or neurologically disabled children: Reviewed referrals and diagnosis and formulated recommendations for student placement and provision of services.
Gave also technical assistance in areas, for example assessment, curriculum development, and use of materials and equipment.
Helped in conducting interviews for applicants, and in evaluating staff performance.
Assisted program administrators in the development of program policy and goals.
Assisted students, using special educational strategies and techniques, to improve sensory-motor and perceptual-motor development, perception, memory, language, cognition, and social and emotional development.
Worked with a number of students to increase their motivation, provide consistent reinforcement to learning, continuous assessment of their level of functioning.
Worked directly with parents on dealing with student's learning impairment.
