Research Related Activities 1972-1995
(Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Indian Space Research Organisation, Trivandrum)

My major contributions here were in the form of problem analysis, systematic approach to design and solutions, selection of the best course of design based on technical data, analysis skills, technical data collection and design work, modular design concepts and practical implementation. My skills in preparation of test plans, test automation, formation of test groups, installation and maintenance related activities to keep systems in specified working conditions, test and evaluation of hardware packages and flight certification were also fully utilized..

• Master’s program Thesis - Design of Control System Compensator by Pole Placement Technique for fast changing system dynamics for a Multi Rate Sampled Data Control System. • Design of Analog and Digital Instrumentation and Control Systems for Launch Vehicle Trajectory Control and Attitude and Orbital Control Systems for stabilizing satellite position in orbits and power generation using Solar Cells. The systems are unique in their control system strategies, and implementation.
• Design of a Launcher control system used for launch of Satellite Launch vehicles. It uses Programmable Logic Controller for sequential operation and control of the launcher movement •
• Designed and developed a heat simulator using Infra red lamps for simulating the heating effect experienced by rocket nose cones during its atmospheric flight. • Special instrumentation circuit designs with very high reliability for space and ground applications. Test and evaluation of newly developed sensors for Navigational purposes like Dynamically tuned gyroscopes, servo accelerometers, very high-resolution radiometers for natural resources imaging, digital image processing, and test soft ware for system evaluation.

• Preparation of Life testing plans for aerospace mechanisms like momentum wheels, gyroscopes and solar array drive mechanism for satellite power generation
• Satellite control Station operation for satellite attitude and orbit control manoeuvre, health monitoring, control operations and imaging operations.
