September 2008 - September 2009 University of Newcastle upon Tyne Recipient of Gateshead City Councils Research Awards for 2008-09 Evaluation of Accessibility to Employment Prospects in Team Valley Trading Estate, Tyne & Wear - Studied the transport needs for the Team Valley Trading Estate to help increase the public transport patronage and cater to the ever-changing transport demands. An Accessibility Index was computed by an algorithm (goodness of relation 0.336) developed as a function of the travel distance and the available employment opportunities at the estate. Other Parameters and attraction attributes were calculated by the Poission regression and which included population, free flow travel time and job density. The model run in SPSS to compute the Accessibility Index for various regions in the travel catchment area. The observations and suggestions have helped the City Council in making necessary improvements to the public transport network thus, improving the ease of travel for employees.
