Ibn Sina Hospital is four centers tertiary care (500 beds), provides patient’s care in the following specialities: neurosurgery, neurology, pediatric-surgery, kidney transplant and post-transplant care, plastic-surgery, burn-surgery and eye-surgery. The operation theaters consist of 5 rooms for neurosurgery and pediatric surgery, 2 rooms for day case surgery, 2 rooms for kidney surgery, 5 rooms for plastic surgery and 6 rooms for eye surgery. The department of anesthesia provides standard care for patients in all previous fields as well as in interventional radiology procedures (coiling of cerebral aneurysms & vascular malformation), MRI, CT, and pediatric diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Intensive care unit consists of 9 beds for adults and 8 beds for pediatrics, 15 neonatal incubators, 3 beds in the kidney center and 11 beds in the burn unit.
My clinical duties included the provision of anesthetic care for all of the above fields including in-house and over phone calls for emergencies twice weekly
I was rewarded for excellent performance by achieving the following:
• Implemented guidelines for the management of septic patients; resulted in marked improvement of patient’s morbidity and mortality
• Created checklists for invasive lines of nurses’ daily care in Burn Intensive Care Unit. Achieved over 50% reduction of infection rate
• Conducted research on Anesthetic Management of Neurosurgical Patients in collaboration with neurosurgeons

Farwanyia hospital is a primary care (900 beds) serving heavily populated areas. The main operation theater consists of 12 rooms alternating between obstetrics and gynecology surgery, general-surgery, orthopedic-surgery, uro-surgery, ENT surgery, ophthalmic-surgery, dental and maxillofacial surgery. Labor suite consists of two operating rooms and 20 delivery rooms with painless labor services. There are two intensive care units with 25 beds. I was responsible for
• Provided anesthesia in all previous fields as well as ICU and trauma management three days per week
• As a team leader of the anesthesia on-call team, I was responsible for resolving all arising problems, debriefing and giving a relief to co-workers
• As a member of mobile surgical on-call team, I was responsible for initial evaluation, airway management of patients. Additionally, in disaster management I was responsible for triaging, initial management, transportation, and Intensive care management
• During Avian Flu, I was responsible for ensuring safety measures in dealing with the infected cases. In addition to liaison between departments and virology laboratory conveying updated information in a secure manner
