In charge of the construction of the Kuala Lumpur MRT line from Pasar Seni Station to Pudu Launching Shaft with the approximate tunnel length of 3.0km, including an underground station. This is part of the 9.5km of the whole underground section of the KL MRT project. Machine used is Earth Pressure Balance TBM of 6.7m diameter manufactured by Herrenknecht AG.

Duties include:

• Construction of launching shaft using diaphragm walls, managing the delivery of assembly of the TBMs, preparation of site facilities to support TBM operation, liaison with TBM supplier, consultant and sub-contractors as well as the Client.
• Manage the total strength of approximately 30 staffs comprising of managers, engineers and supervisors as well as various sub-contractors and suppliers on site.
• Administer the contract to ensure all works are completed within the specified budget, quality and in a timely manner in accordance with the fixed milestones.
• Handling technical, commercial and contractual issues arising during the implementation stage of the project and managed to resolve them to ensure all issues will not hinder the work progress.

In charge of the proposed 8.2km rail link in the state of Selangor, Malaysia with an approximate cost of RM500 mil. The project will link the existing commuter line to the old airport to mitigate the traffic congestion and to enhance further development of the old airport.

Duties include:

• Overall planning of the project including civil works, signalling & telecommunication and electrification.
• Led the negotiation session with the Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport in order to get the Letter of Award for the project. Managed to finalise and seal the contract within the required budget.
• Formulated and drafted the appointment of various consultants (such as detailed design consultant, environmental consultant and architectural consultant) as well as various sub-contractors (including soil investigation and surveying). Managed to get all consultants and sub-contractors on board in a timely manner.
• Liaison with various government agencies such as KTMB (Malaysian Railway), the Ministry of Transport, the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department and the Land Public Transport Commission.
• Weekly reporting to the Board of Directors on the progress of the project.

A project management company which was responsible for the development of Petronas Twin Towers and Putrajaya Administrative Centre. Currently managing the development of East Coast Economic Region of Malaysia.

Duties include:

• Procured experienced railway consultant for the feasibility study of the proposed railway line, which should have overall experience and manpower in the field of civil works, trackworks, signalling & communication and electrification.
• Streamlined the works from various consultants (engineering, socio-economic, environmental, economic and financial) in order to produce a comprehensive study for the proposed project.
• Attended various meetings/sessions with the relevant state governments, economic planning units and public works departments at federal level to ensure smooth progress of the works.
• Managed the issuance of detailed design drawings from consultants for the commencement of works on site.
• Managed the construction logistics for the smooth progress of the projects which are situated in remote areas.

A company owned by the Malaysian Government which is in charge of managing the operation and development of Light Rail Transit in Kuala Lumpur. Directly reporting to the General Manager and managing 10 engineers and senior engineers. Responsibilities include managing consultants and contractors in the construction of LRT-related works.

Other duties include:

• Prepared the Request for Proposal for the appointment of Detailed Design Consultant for the proposed LRT extension project and subsequent tender evaluation, recommendation and getting the consultant on board for the project.
• Managed all enabling preliminary works for the proposed LRT extension project (soil investigation works, utility diversion works and survey works).
• In charge of all civil works required on the existing LRT line to accommodate for the proposed fleet expansion of the LRT from 2-car trains to 4-car trains (trains supplied by Bombardier).
• Managed the integration of 2 above-ground LRT stations from two different LRT systems, including all civil and M&E works required.
• Led regular weekly progress meetings with consultants and contractors to identify issues and resolved them.

Construction of the Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel (SMART) Project. The project is the first project in world combining two schemes; flood mitigation scheme and motorway scheme utilising 13.28m bored tunnel using TBM by Herrenknecht. The total length of the tunnel is 9.7km with the stormwater tunnel also shares the center 3km of motorway tunnel.

Duties include:

• A team member in the selection process of the TBM used for the SMART project, including attending design meeting with the TBM’s manufacturer.
• Involved in preparing various Method Statements with respect to tunnelling operations.
• Monitored the production of precast concrete segments used for the project.
• Managed the implementation of soil investigation works using soil probing, tomography resistivity survey and microgravity survey.
• Managed the implementation of various soil improvement works such as jet grouting, compaction grouting and chemical grouting.
• Implemented various ground monitoring methods to monitor ground movements during tunnelling such as building settlement markers, ground settlement markers, inclinometers, building tiltmeters and standpipe piezometers.
• Exposed to other tunnelling methods for the construction cross passages in the tunnel such as drill & blast method and NATM method.

A project management company and was in charge for the construction of the 40 km of LRT System 2 for Kuala Lumpur (driverless system). The LRT system includes 5km of bored tunnel section. Upon completion of the project in 1999, was in charge of the construction of the electrified double-track railway project from Rawang, Selangor to Ipoh, Perak ( a total length of 180km).

Duties include:

• Managed the activities and outputs of consultants (Halcrow Ltd, Bechtel) and various contractors (Hazama Corporation, SNC Lavalin) to ensure smooth implementation and timely completion of the project.
• Checked the tunnelling parameters against the existing ground conditions to ensure no settlements or blowouts during tunnelling.
• Checked the acceptability of all segments delivered to site in accordance with the specified QAQC criteria.
• Coordinated all soil improvement works using chemical grouting and jet grouting to mitigate settlement during tunnelling.
• Quality control and inspection of the built rings.
• Managed the construction of invert concrete in the tunnel and installation of M&E services (linear heat detectors, power rails etc). • Coordination of all resources and manpower during tunnelling operation.

A company owned by Malaysia Government which was responsible in managing and developing all airports in Malaysia. Was in charge of managing old Subang Airport.

Duties include:

• Responsible on all civil engineering works done on the airport such as runway, parking aprons, terminal buildings, water reticulation system, drainage system and wastewater system.
• Formulated and implemented regular and periodic maintenance works on the airport facilities.
• As the Head of Civil Engineering Unit, liaised with other units (Mechanical Engineering Unit and Electrical Engineering Unit) to ensure an integrated maintenance programme for the airport.
• Provided engineering and technical backup for Malaysia Airports Headquarters for the construction of the new KL International Airport in Sepang.
• Managed the construction of new buildings and building renovation works of the airport.

Managed all building and civil engineering works, including water supply and sewerage systems within the University, monitoring contractor’s works in term of cost, schedule and quality.
