Worked as Trainee Engineer (1 year training program) at Wärtsilä. The company has operations in nearly 170 locations in 70 countries around the world. Wärtsilä is listed on the NASDAQ OMX Helsinki, Finland.
They are considered to be the experts in delivering power solutions for marine and other energy markets. In Pakistan, they have got O & M (Operations and Maintenance) contracts with 4 Independent power plants (IPPs) of 200MW capacity each and they have numerous service and support contracts with names like Nestle, OMV, DG cement, Gul Ahmad etc. I worked with the department of Wärtsilä Operations and Maintenance (WOM) and was deputed at one of their IPPs, Nishat Chunian Power Limited (NCPL). It is a 200MW combined cycle power plant. The plant is equipped with the latest W18V46 Wärtsilä engines. The auxiliary equipment includes various types of pumps, compressors, fuel oil separators, reverse osmosis units, heat exchangers, Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) etc. Being a part of WOM meant to ensure a smooth and safe running of all the equipment, to run the plant as efficiently as stated in our contract, rectify all the problems in minimum possible time, to ensure customer satisfaction and in doing so we are required to strictly follow the global Wartsila practices.
