Maintain the quality & enlarge the bank's lending portfolio to ensure achieving the best possible results from a well diversified and low risk portfolio. Managing and directing a team of 13 staff to ensure their best performance.
- Plan the annual marketing strategy for the Team and ensure establishment of appropriate account plans to attain business focus and road-map the budget.
- Review the existing commercial portfolio to maintain/ enhance the asset quality and control the risks attaching, whilst exploiting opportunities to maximize revenues.
- Identify the segments targets markets and develop new business to broad base the portfolio and pursue growth opportunities (including syndications, project financing and cross border exposure).
- Develop strong working relations with all existing clients at the decision making level, to position the Bank as their bank of first choice.
- Review and initiate policy changes, as necessary, to suite the changing business and market conditions.
- Implement Credit Controls in line with the bank’s credit policy to attain a satisfactory rating on asset portfolio quality and on credit management processes.
- Initiate recruitment plan to ensure proper staffing of the Team and also train, develop and motivate the Team to meet the bank’s objectives.
- Evaluating the success chances of big projects in Egypt with their projected financial structure to recommend proposals for investment / fund raising to the bank’s H.O. in Dubai.
- Overlook at the branch operating results on daily basis (in coordination with the branch manager) to ensure achieving the pre set budget.
- Review and recommend for approval the more complex credit proposals received from the branches.
- Ensure that such proposals are correct, complete and consistent with the bank’s lending criteria.
- Draw to the attention of the appropriate authority level to any irregularities that might adversely impact the loan portfolio or its quality.
- Assist the corporate (marketing) officers and the branches’ credit officers to structure the credit lines that meet the bank’s lending criteria as well as the clients’ business needs.
- Maintain awareness of the market and business conditions (in the Kingdom & the Gulf area) to the extent that helps in recommending the correct proposals and good impact of the banks’ loan portfolio.
- Classroom training for the new graduates (junior credit officers).
The job responsibilities included processing of credit proposals (renewal as well as new), analyzing customers’ financial statements, evaluating the risk rating for each account and the credit portfolio in general, replay to queries from H.O., handle credit administration, security documentation, recoveries of non-performing loans, Etc.……..
Attended specialized courses at the University of New Hampshire, U.S.A. during 1990 studying Finance, Banking and Economics. Preparing for MBA.
During such time, I did intern with international banks including a seminar at EXIM-Bank in Washington D.C. and worked for MashreqBank in New York City during the period from September 1990 till December 31, 1990.
The job included examining loans and investment projects, making cost/ benefit analysis, completing feasibility studies and submitting reports to the appropriate authority level.
Handled international and local transactions for importing and exporting goods for the company and its customers. The job responsibilities included also handling the operational issues with the banks and foreign suppliers.
