Promoted to manager within 5 years of joining EY as a trainee. Rejoined in Pakistan office and promoted as Senior Manager.
Worked in EY South Africa and Saudi Arabia
Span of control = 30 staff members including two managers

My role:-
Financial analysis and identification of financial trends / ratios, variances and interpretations thereon. Monitoring
of the key financial indicators of the clients and reviewing monthly management and other reports;

Identification of key business, significant and financial risks facing the clients along with assessment of
mitigating controls;

Communicating significant issues in the form of early warning issues to the clients’ senior management / Audit
Committee / Board of Directors;

Monitoring the timely preparation of all deliverables to the clients that include financial statements (including cash flow statements), management letters (highlighting control weaknesses and recommendations) and other deliverables;

Review of financial policies and procedures of the clients and ensuring compliance in accordance with the International Financial Reporting Standards;

Developing people through effectively supervising, coaching and mentoring all levels of staff;

Ensuring compliance with firm’s risk management policies and procedures;

Project management - Extensive experience in project management from initiation to completion, for assurance clients;

Rendering services through in depth expertise in IFRS, Banking / Company laws etc;

Accounting & Controls Knowledge - Review and preparation of technically challenging and highly subjective accounting and control areas, under regulated environments governed by the regulators;

Ensuring compliance of corporate governance for listed as well as for public sector entities;

My role:-

Reviewing financial statements, monthly management and other reports;

Preparing top management routine and adhoc reports;

Compliance with banking regulatory and financial reporting frameworks;

Analysis and identification of financial trends and variances and interpretations thereon. Monitoring of the key financial ratios / indicators of the Bank;

Preparing and analyzing various financial reports;

Assisting in finalizing organizational profitability analysis, fund transfer pricing & ALM policy, capital adequacy ratio calculation
Coordination with other departments to ensure accuracy and consistency in financial information.

Implementing and providing guidance on AAOIFI accounting standards and IFRSs.

Reviewing and finagling various management reports for conventional banking setup also.

Acting in-charge treasury back office operations

Assisted Central Bank of Oman in preparing regulatory reporting requirements for Islamic banking

Hands on experience of merger / acquisition of banks as I was actively involved in merger of AlBaraka Islamic Bank B.S.C (C) with and into AlBaraka Bank (Pakistan) Limited (formerly Emirates Global Islamic Bank Limited);
