I graduated from Cardiff University in December 2017 having been awarded Master of Science degree in Urban and Regional Development. My master thesis topic was “Smart Cities through the lens of Social Sustainability”, where I had chosen Birmingham and Bristol in the UK as case studies. Mainly I researched the impact of Smart Cities Initiatives on social acute problems such as fuel poverty, child poverty, housing and social justice. As a primary data I conducted semi-structured interviews, whereas as a secondary data I utilised smart city policies, social policies and statistical data. During writing this dissertation, I got acquainted with social policy, economic policy and importance of finding balance between them, from which nation’s or cities vicious or virtuous circle of development depends on.
