Change dressings, administering antibiotics and other medications, and monitoring the infant's recovery. Provide special care to infants being fed intravenously by inserting feeding tubes and making sure infants are fed several times during the day. Draw blood and monitor the overall health of the infant. Trained in using medical equipment such as incubators and ventilators.

- Trained in providing emergency care, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation if an infant stops breathing. Provide training to parents of an infant with special medical needs; this includes how to feed, bathe, administer medication or care for wounds.
