Occupational Safety & Process Safety Manager (2020-uptodate)
OS & PSM are combined and I am in charge of meeting all requirements for both.
The fatalities, between 2011 and 2013, stopped as soon as we began implementation of Process Safety Management elements and Safety Culture Transformation initiatives. Not just that, in 2015, we started our Journey to zero, and significant change has been observed in Lost Time Incidents and in reportable incident. We have achieved our Journey to zero and having Zero DIFR since July 2019 and zero TRIFR since December 2019.
Today the site sits at approximately 97% compliance in occupational Safety and above 93% in PSM. We did this by developing world-class Occupational Safety and Process Safety Management systems, comprehensive audits, organizing a team of leaders, engineers and technicians to support implementation. Selected Contributions:
Develop HSE Strategy for OS and PSM with implementation plans
Develop and implement budget and liaise with finance to ensure adequate spending plan
Developed & Rolled-out the LIFE Saving Rules Model for Yanbu.
Develop and implement a safety culture transformation initiative aimed at improving the safety
perception of employees and contractors to shift the culture from reactive to synergistic.
Work on a sustainable SHE improvement strategy aimed at instituting process safety elements, improve
the safety systems that did exist but were deficient, and sustain the elements that were well established.
Lead Management of Change, Pre-Start Up Safety Reviews and Process Hazard Analysis.
Ensure 5-Year Cyclical PHA Plans is conducted with appropriate engineering resources across site.
Develop and Implement training calendar for OS and PSM elements site wide.
Improve life critical procedures, safe work practices and train personnel on those elements in the field.
Lead major incident investigations utilizing root cause analysis techniques including Apollo Method Contributions:
Achieved the Journey To Zero.
Achieved ISO 45001 accreditation (2021)
Yanbu safety records have improved tremendously and are now in-line with other global sites across the globe. This has instilled a culture of continuous improvement and transformed the site safety culture from Reactive to Independent since coming on board as the site Safety Lead
