Wardanieh Potable Water Treatment Plant

The project consists of the design, construction, installation, testing, and commissioning of a new Water Treatment Plant (WTP) at Wardanieh, with the purpose of providing high-quality potable water to Beirut and its suburbs. The plant will treat raw water sourced from Litani and Awali river and deliver it through the existing regional water network managed by the Beirut and Mount Lebanon Water Establishment (EBML).

The Khenchara Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is a significant infrastructure project located in the Metn District of Mount Lebanon. Designed to enhance environmental sustainability and public health, the plant serves multiple communities in the region.

Key Features

Capacity: The facility is engineered to process approximately 3, 600 cubic meters of wastewater per day, catering to the needs of Khenchara, Bteghrine, Baskinta, and Jouar.

Infrastructure: The plant comprises an administrative building, four biological treatment tanks, and clarifiers, thickener, aerobic digester facilitating efficient wastewater processing.

Construction: The project encompasses excavation, reinforced concrete work, finishing, external works, and landscaping.

Barouk and Nabaa El-Safa wastewater treatment plants
The wastewater treatment initiative in the Barouk and Nabaa El-Safa regions of the Chouf District, Mount Lebanon, is a pivotal infrastructure project aimed at enhancing environmental sustainability and public health. Spearheaded by Lebanons Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR), the project encompasses the construction of two wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) and extensive sewer networks to serve the local communities.

Nabaa El-Safa WWTP: Designed to serve approximately 20, 000 equivalent inhabitants.

Barouk WWTP: Designed to serve approximately 8, 000 equivalent inhabitants.

Each WWTP comprises several key structures and systems:

Inlet Works: Facilities for the initial reception of wastewater, including screening and grit removal units to eliminate large solids and inert materials.

Primary Treatment Units: Sedimentation tanks where suspended solids settle, reducing the load on subsequent treatment stages.

Secondary Treatment Systems: Biological treatment processes, such as activated sludge systems or biofilters, to degrade organic matter and nutrients.

Sludge Treatment Facilities: Thickening and drying beds for the stabilization and dewatering of sludge generated during treatment.

Effluent Discharge Systems: Channels or pipelines for the safe discharge of treated water, ensuring compliance with environmental standards.

Administrative and Control Buildings: Structures housing operational staff, control rooms, and laboratories for monitoring treatment processes.

Transportation & Infrastructure Engineer
