I have introduced practices that have successfully resulted in a significant reduction of operation costs by recycling organic solvents and producing ultra trace HNO3 in the lab.
Besides my excellent work performance evaluation for 3 consecutive years, I have also been chosen by the university Professors to be the main research assistant to undertake research on:
- Development of Analytical method for determining Sulphur in crude oil.
- Synthesis of Carbon Nano tube Composites (CNT) for water purification from toxic metals application.
My job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Operate and maintain instruments including: ICP-MS, ICP-OES, GC, GC-MS, HPLC, Elemental analyzer, UV spectrometer, and AAS.
- Prepare reagents and standards required for teaching lab experiments.
- Prepare samples for instrumental analysis.
- Manage all lab aspects including setting safety rules, storing and arranging lab equipments and chemicals, ordering (purchasing) lab supplies (chemicals, glassware, instruments, PPE… etc.).
- Assist faculty members on their research work.
- Guide students through practical experiments procedure and safety precautions.
- Assist and train graduate students on analytical instruments.
- Development and implementation of sop for elemental spectroscopic instruments.
In a very short period from my employment I was chosen to be responsible for the supervision of the installation of a new Acrylic Fiber production Line.
Some of my responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Monitor chemical process in polymerization reactor area and polymer dissolving area.
- Supervise on construction of piping and instruments in new polymerization area and polymer dissolving area to make sure it's done according to the P&ID.
- Participated in construction and commissioning of new production line.
- Operating different types of pumps & valves manually and from DCS panel.
I was nominated and chosen to be part of a team consisted of professional Engineers to discover setbacks slowing down the production process and Identifying solutions for them.
Some of my responsibilities were, but not limited to:
- Ensure production process is performed flawlessly.
- Utilize raw material in best manner, revise its stock and report deficiency of any raw materials.
- Supervise staff, to ensure quality of production & follow HSE regulations.
- Insure quality standards are performed as affirmed by ISO 9001: 2000
- Resolve root of problems, find solutions. Recycle non conformity products into usable finished products.
