I am responsible for valuation, analysis, filing and commercialization of intellectual property (IP) of the University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). My role includes identifying and protecting IPs, and taking a lead role in the transfer and commercialization of intellectual properties (Patents) through licensing and/or the creation of start-up companies. My role includes but not limited to:
- Technology assessment and evaluation (Oil and Gas, Chemicals, Petrochemicals and Chemistry).
- Technology commercialization management with DTVC: Chemicals and Petrochemical Inventions.
- Patent prosecution due diligence.
- Patents filing: Prior Art Search, Drafting, Filing, and Handling Office Actions.
- Prior Art Search (PAS) analysis and evaluation.
- Agreements drafting and due diligence with DTV-Tenants.
- Technology landscaping: Catalysis, Polymer, and Graphene Technologies.
I was involved in the Nanotechnology Lab (with Dr. Muataz and Dr. Maliabari) as a researcher. My research duties included: Carbon Nanotubes-synthesis and characterization, lipase immobilization studies, lipase activity, oily waste-water degradation. I worked extensively on SEM, TGA, FTIR, CVD reactors, and had brief experience with the TEM.
Performing teaching and teaching-related duties, such as teaching lower level courses, developing teaching materials, preparing and giving examinations, and grading examinations or papers. Moreover, I assist and participate in the design, execution, analysis and evaluation of research projects with faculty members. My duties include:
- Teaching “Basics and Principals of Chemical Engineering” to sophomore students (Second Year).
- Teaching “Plant Design and Layout” to junior students (Third Year).
- Lecturing Lab Courses (Chemistry, Unit Operations, Thermodynamics and Heat, etc.) for Sophomores, and Juniors.
- Preparing and grading many exams, tests, and performing teaching assistantship duties for: Thermodynamics (Juniors Class), Process Control (Juniors Class), Reaction Engineering (Seniors Class), and Chemistry (Freshmen Class).
I was involved in commercializing complex scientific and technological products and services for oil and minerals companies. Services include oil and gold exploration devices, concessions geo-mapping services, passive magnetic resonance (PMR) mapping, and feasibility studies and quotations for gold production lines. Customers include Lazoteen Co., Ministry of Minerals (Sudan), Manajim Co., and others.
Thesis Title: Biochemical Waste Water Treatment Using Immobilized Lipase on Multi-wall Carbon Nano-tubes. I gained excellent and well-tested analytical skills, developed through the work throughout the M.S period and through defending my technical opinions during thesis work and seminars discussions. Courses: Nano-materials, Carbon Nano-tubes, Enzymes, Biochemical Wastewater Treatment.
Senior Project: Design of Vis-breaking Unit-Soaker Reactor design. I developed strong knowledge and a very solid base of chemical engineering principles, mass transfer, fluids, heat, process design, and industrial applications.
