Advised and supported annually over 1500 diverse undergraduate students (international, transfer, first-generation, pre-professional, honors, at-risk, non-traditional) majoring in Criminology, Family and Consumer Studies, Psychology, and Sociology regarding academic and graduation planning, academic and cultural adjustment, while empowering students to participate in signature experiences such as research, internships, peer advising, and learning abroad.
•Oversaw the student organization Psi Chi, the international honor society in Psychology, through directly motivating and assisting six student leaders with event planning, recruitment, and leadership theories to increase student involvement in research and community service through promoting an inclusive culture and community environment.
•Spearheaded the reformation and transformation of the peer advising program to include integration of new curriculum that focuses on training, interpersonal and advocacy skills, academic advising theories, and institution and departmental policies to improve and provide assistance to advising caseload and undergraduate student needs while supervising four peer advisors annually.
•Researched and identified Department of Psychology’s policies and curriculum that can be revitalized to decrease the barriers of student success for over 1500 students and presents findings and solutions in a collaborative approach to applicable campus constituents such as, faculty and staff in the College of Social and Behavioral Science, the Honors College, Office of the Registrar, Academic Advising Center, and other applicable campus partners, in an effort to decrease barriers of student success, and to increase retention, persistence, and graduation rates.
•Managed and delegated all Psychology undergraduate projects equally through three academic advisors that include graduation clearance, transfer articulation, marketing and recruitment, student outreach, departmental events, class lectures, website updates, and other projects to ensure training and development of advisors.
•Developed and executed varieties of projects and reports, such as a psychology annual report that includes data and assessment of the undergraduate student experience through an academic year and an advising training manual that includes department policies, to ensure effective transition and training among leadership and academic advisors to further the mission and vision of the collaborative academic advising model.
•Transformed student outreach process by crafting a Psychology Canvas page with over 2000 students to provide information to students regarding university events, deadlines, and opportunities to increase student retention, persistence, and involvement.
•Established, developed, and communicated pre-requisite changes and permission code implementation to students, staff, and faculty in the Department of Psychology and campus partners while maintaining a culture of assessment for the policies by updating processes as needed to promote an increase in student, faculty, and staff satisfaction from 800 student requests each semester.
•Governed curriculum for the Quantitative Research Analytics in the Social Sciences Certificate and advise 25 students annually while marketing and recruiting for the certificate to provide options for successful entry into the workforce.
