I am a part of Ma’aden’s Consolidated Shared Services (CSS) department. CSS Serves 100% owned companies of Ma’aden. These include a Gold Mining & processing Company, an Industrial Minerals mining and processing company, a company which provides accommodation and housing services at all Ma’aden Sites and the corporate HQ. My responsibilities in this role include the following:
1. Assisting the consultant (PWC) with gap analysis i.e. identification of significant differences between SOCPA and IFRS;
2. Performing impact analysis for those differences;
3. Explaining the gaps between SOCPA and IFRS to the senior management;
4. Conducting trainings for Junior Staff on IFRS to acquaint them with new requirements;
5. Preparation of first IFRS financial statements for four 100% owned subsidiaries of Ma’aden;
6. Closing the GL for industrial minerals business of the Company and preparing financial statements;
7. Preparation of performance presentation for the Industrial Minerals Business explaining the significant variances between actuals and budgets and actuals and last year actuals;
8. Performing reconciliation of long outstanding Capital Work-in-Progress accounts;
9. Worked closely with a Big 4 firm for the implementation of IFRSs 9, 15 & 16;
10. Prepare Strategy, Business Plan and Budget for Industrial Minerals mining and processing company (MIMC) for financial year 2019;
11. Involved in supervisory role of fixed assets for all Ma’aden CSS companies.

During my tenure, I worked for EY Lahore assurance department where I have been involved in following assignments

At Ernst and Young, I got experience of statutory external audit, interim reviews and other accounting/auditing related services as a result of which I developed my skills for:
• Planning, execution and compilation of various audit assignment
• Establishing and strengthening of cordial client relationship;
• Preparation/examination, analysis and review of financial statements and accounting systems
• Audit and review of financial statement to ensure compliance with International Financial reporting standards(IFRS) and applicable local statutory laws;
• Advising and recommending client on the best practices in finance and operations;
• Evaluating internal control implemented by client management and compliance frameworks;
• Managing staff at different locations;
• Writing reports for senior management;
• Overall analytical analysis of clients financial and budgets and
• Ensuring compliance with International Accounting Standards.
My experience in audit and assurance of the firm has enabled me to develop a comprehensive understanding of the competitive and regulatory environments of the diversified industries and the related accounting and internal control systems.
