Cargo Operations Manager

May 2010 - Present

Dubai Airports

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

May 2010 - Present

I am responsible for all cargo operational facilities at Dubai International Cargo, which handles over 2.27million tonnes of cargo each year and employs over 3, 000 workers through its stakeholders. One of my key challenges within this role is to meet our customer and stakeholder requirements around the clock, which I have achieved through implementing 24/7 coverage of operations. Implementation of the 24-hour coverage has also assisted me to achieve a 40% reduction in risks within the facilities through the ability to respond immediately to hazards and safety concerns. I am the key contact for our stakeholders and customers along with regulatory bodies for implementation of rules and restrictions related to cargo operations.
I also have full responsibility for the safety and security of the cargo facilities and am required to ensure that the facilities meet HSE standards at all times alongside the safety and security concerning dangerous goods transportation. I am also required to present statistical reports for the performance of the department and KPIs and have regular meetings with internal and external stakeholders to ensure we are communicating and achieving our goals effectively. Over the last 12 months I have focused on reducing congestion and hazards in and around the operational areas of the facilities and have achieved a 50% reduction in non-operational vehicles through redesigning the operational area and implementation of controls. I have also established procedures for military cargo operations in coordination with the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representative Embassies for Military Cargo.
As a leader in our business I am extremely challenge driven and ensure I continually motivate, coach and develop my team to deliver a professional service, while using my key influencing skills with all stakeholders to achieve our challenges.

I was the key person responsible for liaising and providing services for high profile guests and government representatives and managing charter services for general aviation travellers both nationally and internationally. My biggest challenge was to develop and establish a new concept for general aviation at Dubai Airports through providing packages that linked the entire arena of general aviation including accommodation, entertainment, airport facilities and maintenance. I also had overall responsibility for development and growth of general aviation at Dubai Airports, dealing with over 1000 FBOs, MROs, Operators and Brokers to drive the business and establish the leading GA facility in the Middle East. I actively promoted general aviation services at Dubai Airports through hands on, high visibility networking at exhibitions and events and service development alongside holding membership with NBAA, EBACE and MEBA professional organisations.
