Canon Engineering Industries LLC (CEI) is a UAE based engineering company with clients from EME region. The business is design, manufacturing and installation of steel structures on high rises and other complex structures. A few of the major projects CEI did include:

Reporting directly to the Managing Director I am responsible for overall finance & accounting function. My other responsibilities include legal, HR, admin and commercial. I take care of IFRS compliant financial reporting, finance facilities, project finance, accounts payable and receivable, guarantees and insurance. I manage cash flow, working capital and projects with budgets, forecasts and variance analysis. I build and maintain relations with banks, suppliers and clients and provide commercial support to manufacturing and project site operations in Oman and KSA. My main achievements in this role include:

✔ I controlled and reduced costs in the value stream including 10pc in communication and 14pc in transportation by monitoring costs and renegotiating terms with suppliers.
✔ Efficiently managed stressed cash flow situations with strong negotiation skills ensuring smooth relationships with suppliers and clients are maintained.
✔ Acted as second to MD on various non financial fronts including legal, HR and admin.
✔ Revamped accounting and financial system from purchase order generation to final payment.

Assistant Finance Manager at Paramount Spinning Mills Limited

Paramount Spinning Mills Limited (PSML) is member of Gulistan Group of Companies; a leading fashion and apparel trader and manufacturer in Pakistan.

I was assisting senior finance manager and CFO in finance and treasury functions in an Oracle based ERP environment.

My accounting responsibilities included supplier and customer reconciliations, age analysis of accounts payable and accounts receivable, assistance in periodic financial reporting and external and internal audits. I also managed cash flows via forecasts and controlled Forex risk by forward contract booking in foreign exchange, mostly Euro and USD. Among other duties, I managed L/C discounting limits with banks. Main achievements in this role include:

✔ Introduced daily cash flow reporting system for effective management of future cash flows.
✔ Ensured timely realization of accounts receivable by follow up and convincing communication skills. Saved past follow up time and cost to the company by more than 50pc
✔ Introduced monthly MIS reporting model with emphasis on control

Accountant/Costing & Budgeting Analyst at US Denim Mills (Private) Limited

I started my career as Costing & Budgeting Analyst and later assumed additional responsibilities as Financial Accountant. This was a junior role with reporting line to Manager Costing & Systems. My financial accounting responsibilities included preparation of schedules, reconciliations and development of customized ERP reports in coordination with IT department. Costing & budgeting responsibilities included accumulation of costs (material, labor and overhead) in ERP and taking part in departmental budgets and margin reporting by products and divisions. Following are the main achievements:

✔ Designed reporting package aimed at aiding management making operational decisions. This financial model consisted of multiple reports aimed at tracking financial performance from different aspects, variance analysis, normal loss reporting and projected contribution margin per current performance.
✔ Prepared presentations for discussion sessions between finance and board on financial performance to facilitate decision making.
