Project King Faisal Air Academy (KFAA), Al Majma’a, KSA
Client Ministry of Defence & Royal Saudi Air Force, KSA
Project brief KFAA project is a facility to train the pilots and aviation staff of Royal Saudi Air Force. The project consists of airfield and related facilities, educational, offices, residential, recreational, mosques and utility buildings. The project has a total site area of 314 sq. km and a built-up area of over 1 million sqm. Dar Al Riyadh is involved as PM-CM consultants.
Responsibilities
•Review of architectural and interior design submittals (including concept/schematic designs, detail drawings, shop drawings, and reports, etc.).
•Respond to technical queries from contractors, site team and other stakeholders.
•Manage interdisciplinary coordination, clash analysis and resolution of conflicts in design.
•Assist contracts and finance department in review of the Variation Orders submitted by the contractor.
•Assist material engineers in review of the material submittals pertaining to architecture and interior design.
•Attend progress/coordination meetings with clients, end-users, design consultants, contractors and site team. Record the minutes/notes and initiate actions accordingly.
•Perform written correspondence with clients, end-users and contractors.
•As a manager architecture and interior design section, lead a team of architects and interior designer and plan, delegate and prioritise the work among the team.
•Performed scrutiny of contract drawings with respect to project specifications, BOQ, building codes and end-user brief. Submitted detailed analysis and recommendations to the clients.
•Managed the Value Engineering exercise and led a multi-disciplinary technical and commercial team. Provided technical and commercial recommendations to the client to reduce the overall cost.
•Developed concept design for several newly introduced buildings in the project and revised design of several buildings to implement updated client’s requirements. Developed design brief for those buildings and submitted to the client.
•Assisted the project control team in the development of Project Management Plan of the project.

Project brief SFMC is a Design and Build project of a medical complex. The complex consists of a hospital, apartments, villas, mosque, data centre and utility buildings. The hospital is a state-of-the-art 1700 beds 13 storied building. The project is spread over an area of 2.5 sq. km. The total built-up area of the project is about 1.8 million sqm including hospital’s built-up area of 500, 000 sqm. With the budget of about SAR. 25 billion, this is arguably the largest healthcare project in the GCC region.
Responsibilities
•Review and scrutinise design submittals from design consultants/ vendors prior to submission to the engineer and manage the approval process.
•Lead interdisciplinary coordination and develop composite drawings, and settle design clashes.
•Lead a team of architects and draftsmen. Plan and delegate assignments.
•Communicate with all the stakeholders, record the communication, and initiate the necessary action.
•Review and respond to site and technical clarification requests from design consultants, vendors and site team.
•Attend weekly progress meetings with client and engineer. Record the minutes and initiate actions accordingly
•Perform written correspondence with design consultants and vendors.
•Assist LEED Compliance team in review and coordination.

•In-charge architectural section of Technical Department. Plan, delegate, and prioritise the work among the team.
•Manage the development of shop drawings and liaise with the engineer to secure approval.
•Review and scrutinise vendor shop drawings related to architecture and liaise with the engineer to secure approval.
•Perform interdisciplinary coordination and develop composite drawings and resolve conflicts.
•Assist material engineer in review and submission of material submittals.
•Assist procurement department in bid evaluation, technical analysis, BOQs, and material/vendor selection.
