Manager and Co-Founder at Bright Sparks Early Learning Centre
  • United Arab Emirates - Dubai
  • July 2014 to June 2016

Bright Sparks ELC was born out of my sincere passion for providing a holistic education to children of diverse learning abilities. This is a family founded centre, and is the first of its kind in Dubai. It consists of a British Curriculum inclusive preschool as well as an add-on therapeutic centre offering Occupational and Speech and Language therapy.

Key responsibilities:

 Interviewed and hired staff members (teachers, teaching assistants and therapists).
 Welcomed new parents, took them on tours and took full responsibility for the registration of new children at the preschool.
 Answered telephone calls and email enquiries.
 Established a solid and open relationship with preschool and therapy parents, to enable effective partnerships in their child’s education and care.
 Dealt with all parent complaints and enquiries, and arranged necessary meetings for them
 Kept parents up to date with regular emails and a weekly newsletter
 Set up the preschool timetable and scheduled clients at the therapy centre.
 Managed invoices and fees and took part in other administrational tasks.
 Assisted in writing the policies and procedures as well as critical reports
 Organised group staff meetings, as well as weekly one-on-on check-in meetings to discuss staff concerns and progress at Bright Sparks.
 Took full responsibility for the centre in the absence of the Director.
 Lead and supported staff members throughout the day
 Organised cross-institutional networks and built working relationships with service providers and schools.
 Lead marketing activities via social media, blogs, exhibitions, forums etc. and developed marketing content for the preschool and therapy centre including summer and winter camp adverts, promotions etc.
 Ensured company website is up to date with the latest information

Private Tutor at Self-employed

Teacher at Sylvan Learning
  • United Arab Emirates - Dubai
  • December 2011 to July 2014

 My position at Sylvan was largely to provide individualised support to a mature student with additional needs. As well as helping him with academics, I strived to coach him to cope with life demands, and worked to enhance his confidence, independence and self-belief.
 I also taught primary and secondary children Maths, English and Science, and assisted them with homework and exam revision.
 During my post at Sylvan, I actively participated in other roles apart from teaching. These include the training of new teachers, preparing material for the teachers, setting up the teaching timetable, as well as other administration tasks. I also took part in regular staff meetings and took initiative, sharing ideas and feedback on how to improve operations.

Brain Trainer at The Brain and Learning
  • United Arab Emirates - Dubai
  • March 2013 to November 2013

 Delivered one-to-one tailor-made training programmes to children of all ages. The programmes aimed to strengthen cognitive skills and thereby improve ability to learn.
 This was a demanding and fast-paced job which required continuous training and self-evaluation to develop my skills as a trainer. The experience improved my self-discipline and organisational skills, as well as my ability to work under pressure.
