Site Manager at Canon Engineering Industries LLC
  • Oman - Muscat
  • My current job since January 2014

I am currently the site manager, who oversees all elements of the structural steelwork erection process on the baggage handling system at Muscat International Airport. I was hired due to my experience and expertise to devise an erection process that maximizes working efficiency whilst creating a safe system of work. This project is highly demanding due to the complexity and unique design of the structural collars and connecting steelwork which was introduced to act as the main support of the baggage handling system. It is my responsibility to manage the engineering division whilst using my problem solving expertise on a day to day basis. I excel in planning and maintaining installation efficiency and some of my responsibilities include :

1. Representing the company and reporting direct to the client
2. Managing all aspects of Health and Safety
3. Managing all quality and accuracy of site operations
4. Ensuring the on time and on budget delivery of project
5. Prepare RAMS and ITPs
6. Process design
7. Training and development of staff

BRIEF HISTORY
I learnt all aspects of the steel erection trade through a 5 year improvership programme when I was 15 years old, during this time I studied Civil Engineering ONC(day release), this expanded my knowledge in the structural mechanics/civil and structural surveying/Analytic methods and setting out processes, which I could then apply to the engineering division of steel erecting.

For my age(30), I class myself as one of the most highly experienced and knowledged steel erectors in the industry.

At 23y/o I was site foreman in charge of all on site operations, I was site supervising at 25y/o which took me down the avenues of Planning, Labour allocation, Plant quantities, Accurate daily reporting, Quality Assurance and being responsible for the plotting of cranes and lifting plans.

I achieved my CPCS Appointed Person for Cranes qualification at the age of 21, I have excelled in planning and executing lifting operations on large projects on Nuclear and petro-chemical sites across the UK, including BNFL, BP Fuels, Centrica and Shell UK.
I am responsible for ensuring safe and planned methods of construction, particularly with regards to the lifting operations.

I have great planning and execution ability, my aim as a manager is always to increase my capacity by training my team so that individuals are working to their maximum ability.
