• Monitors medical records for compliance with Government laws and regulations; ensures that medical records meet standards for reimbursement by third-party payers and for audits;
• Prepares reports relating to the admission, birth, transfer, discharge, or death of patients; utilization of hospital beds; or outpatient services.
• Reviews and evaluates technical work involved in the preparation and maintenance of medical records.
• Establishes work priorities and controls, based on work flow requirements.
• Assistance to the Medical Staff and cooperation with other departments in the matter of records. Selects and tabulates data from patients' charts as requested by the medical staff.
• Compiles statistical reports (such as analyses of types of surgery performed, types of diseases treated, and types of cases receiving special forms of therapy).
• Preservation of records (establish maintenance, control and release of records). Responsible for an account of charts take out of the rack and properly returned.
• Development, analysis and technical evaluation of Clinical Records.
• Recommends standards and methods of operation and to achieve greater efficiency of the department.
• Answers inquiries from authorized persons relating to the medical records of patients.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
I have been working for their Medical Records Automation project with Ministry of Health in Al - Amiri and Al - Adan Hospitals.
Brief about the Project
This project aims at complete removal of manual records and electronically maintaining all medical records of patients. The software used was Nexus. All medical staff and medical records department was connected through a Local Area Network. All medical staff was granted access at various levels and all details of patients were available in the system and can be accessed in accordance with their access levels. Once fully implemented the advantage of EMR is that it saves storage area and time and most importantly all details about the patients is easily available in one click.
My duties included: • Coordination of the project activities with regard to training doctors and nurses, the new Health Information System software (Nexus) being installed.
• Registering and updating the medical records in the system.
• Supervision of Medical Staff in completion of computerized files along with the manual files.
• Coding and indexing of diseases, registration of clinical documents in the system and retrieval of the same.
• Preparation of health statistics, monitoring and evaluating health care records for Management.
• Answering to queries related to the Health Information System.
Purchase and Invoicing Personnel - Pharmacy Division (Nov 2007 - Sep 2008)
• Creating Purchase Orders as required and in accordance with the stock of medicines.
• Receiving of medicines, cross checking with the Purchase Orders and registering the barcodes and generating codes for internal use in the system.
