The job of a parts consultant is common in a medium-sized or relatively large auto repair shop, parts store or dealership service department. A person in this role has a broad range of responsibilities including managing auto parts inventory, filling customer orders, pulling parts from inventory for repairs, placing orders, and even selling, in some cases.
Providing excellent customer service by listening to customer inquiries and requests, asking questions to ensure understanding of needs, and supplying parts in a timely manner
Assess Part Needs one of the most technical facets of a parts consultant's job is to asses the part needs for a consumer or business representative. If a service agent at a local repair shop calls, for instance, a parts store rep needs to listen to the make, model and problem information, and then recommend the right part for a repair job. In a retail store, the consultant must help customers get the right parts to match their cars and fix problems.
