Upon joining the Justice Division of the business, I was appointed as Assistant Implementation/Contract Manager where I was responsible for translating and implementing the National Offender Management Service (NOMS) and European Social Fund (ESF) round 2 bid in to a working operation.
As an Operations Manager with a budget responsibility of >£3m, I held direct line management for a team of 11, across 3 disciplines. I was then asked to develop and implement delivery models for four of London’s prisons (Belmarsh, Isis, Holloway and Brixton). As well as managing four prisons I was also heading up two high profile subprojects (Gangs and Ex-armed Forces).
My principal accountabilities were:
• Responsible for contract management from implementation through successful delivery, including partnership development, KPI setting, procurement and supply chain, stakeholder management, property acquisition, staffing and training
• Rigorous analysis of management information to ensure contract deliverables were achieved
• Lead, motivate, develop and performance manage the team to continuously improve and increase their capability and deliver against their targets
• Developing and implementing strategies to improve organisational capacity and capability
• Maintaining effective and influential relationships at a senior level with key partners and stakeholders
• Driving innovation and improvements through the development of networks, delivery models and communication channels that facilitate the exchange of knowledge, expertise and best practice
• Holding overall accountability for the pilot projects within the contract including; testing and the measurement and reporting of impact and value added
• Informing and supporting the development of business development strategies to enhance existing contracts and exploit other commercial opportunities
• Manage the office(s) to ensure appropriate physical and human resources exist to ensure performance is delivered to quality, compliance and contractual requirements
• Ensure compliance with our company policies (including Health & Safety, Safeguarding and Data Security) so all teams operate in a way that protects customers and colleagues at all times
• HR Recruitment and selection, People Management and Development, Capability and Misconduct
Key Achievements:
• Appointed Head of Contract Compliance for the London wide contract and improved National position from 12th to 3rd
• Supported the implementation of £20m MoJ contract, including KPI setting, stakeholder management, budget planning, property acquisition and staffing
• Designed and implemented four bespoke business models for the Ministry of Justice's/ESF's round two of restorative justice contracts
