Senior/Charge Nurse - responsible for the immediate functioning of the unit and making sure nursing care is delivered safely and that all the patients on the unit are receiving adequate care.
Scrub Nurse - check the patient’s data (name, date, consent and type of operation), prepares the instruments that is going to be used. Assist the surgeon during operation; anticipate the needs of the surgical team. Maintain the sterility of the field; count all sponges, towels, instruments and needles to be used together with the circulating nurse before, during and after operation.
Circulating Nurse - check the patient’s data (name, date, consent and type of operation), assist patient when entering the operating theater and anticipate the needs of the whole team. Connects all the tubings and other connections to the machines, assist the anesthesiologist during induction of anesthesia, intubation and extubation of the patient. Count all the sponges, towels, instruments and needles to be used together with the scrub nurse before, during and after operation. Completes the patient charts including the nurses notes, I&O monitoring sheet and etc. Endorse the patient in the recovery room nurse.
Recovery Room Nurse - attach the patient to oxygen, pulse oximeter and ECG, monitoring of patient every 15mins. Transfer the patient to the floor after 1 hour.
