AREA OF EXPERTISE & SPECIALTIES: A) Provide professional consultancy, advice and guidance to internal customers on logistics issues in order to ensure that high standards in logistics practice are achieved and maintained. B) Evaluate and cost/quality optimize the logistics network on an ongoing basis in order to ensure best value logistics services are provided to the business Develop and maintain good working relationships with both other departments and with external agencies and suppliers in order to support the smooth provision of logistics services across the organization. C) Liaise regularly with senior business management in order to understand ongoing business activities and developments and the implications this will have for co-ordinated logistics provision. D) Raw material planning, critical stock adjustment & stocktaking. E) Data analysis for the raw materials unit consumption in order to prepare the Demand & Supply plan of major & subsidiary raw materials. F) Monitor, Analyze and evaluate Inventory data and process, recommend and implement effective Raw Material management system. Resolve discrepancies and take appropriate corrective and preventive actions. G) Manage stock levels of Inventory materials by applying advanced Inventory control techniques; monitoring and updating stock item forecasts, minimum and maximum stock levels and replenishment lead items; coordinating with Maintenance and Production Departments. H) Perform specialist jobs of material transaction entry in ERP related to receive, inspect, accept or reject, storage in pre defined locations by verifying data and inspection records, comparing invoices / packing list with purchase orders. I) Preparation and execution of Long Term Plans. J) Preparation of enquiries for equipment and spares with specifications for budgetary quotations. Techno-commercial evaluation of quotations. K) Follow-up with the selected suppliers for the on-time scheduled delivery of the material. L) Ensure that all the data records are in compliance with relevant certifications such as ISO-9001, 14001, OSHAS-18001 etc.. M) Specialist in work and manpower planning and quality improvement. N) Background in hazardous materials storage, transportation, disposal.
A) Define, develop and implement Logistics plans, policies and procedures in line with corporate Logistics strategy in order to support the achievement of overall business objectives.
B) Ensure the effective implementation of plans, policies and procedures through leadership of a specialist Logistics Department team - setting goals and objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating employees - in order to ensure the highest levels of performance are achieved.
C) Oversee the development of policy and procedure improvements in order to ensure the ongoing development of logistics provision and standards.
D) Attend and contribute to business planning and decision making meetings in order to communicate effectively within the organization and provide Logistics input and support to overall business decision making.
E) Prepare management information reports in order to ensure that Senior Business Managers have the relevant information needed to support strategic decision-making.
F) Personally resolve critical logistics problems in order to ensure contractual commitments are met and any operational impact is minimized.
G) Research and monitor activities and trends in logistics supply markets in order to ensure informed commercial decision making on supplier identification, selection and pricing. Negotiate with key suppliers and logistics service providers on contract issues in order to ensure best value purchasing terms are obtained.
H) Motivating and satisfying the customer needs in transportation logistics business.
I) Identifying the needs of the customer, checking the availability of the resources for the customer.
J) Responsible to manage the alternative means to satisfy the customer.
Identifying ‘Problems & Opportunities’ regarding ‘SURPLUS MATERIALS’ like environmental problems, strategic material problem, profit opportunities and re-cycling benefits.
Choosing ‘Primary Sources of Surplus’ like scrap & waste, obsolete and damaged stocks, obsolete & damaged equipment.
Assist organization for management of surplus like ‘Salvage & Reclamation’, ‘Materials management & Purchasing’.
‘Disposal of Surplus’ to potential users and buyers and contractual considerations.
Buying surplus materials, their advantages and referring specialized dealers.
Inspection & arrangement of Crawler cranes, Dump trucks, Slag dump trucks, Shovel loaders & Forklift for various jobs.
Inspection, classification, grading and arrangement of steel scraps.
Identifying hazardous materials like bombs, rifle cartridges, missiles, arms & ammunitions, air-tight materials, closed containers etc. in scrap, which are not suited for EAF operation.
Skill and procedures to handle the situation and passing of proper information to the concerned destination.
Ways to handle such materials and proposed locations.
Procedures for the preparation/ cutting/ disposal of such materials.
Impact and dangers of such materials if charged in to furnaces.
Basic safety and hazard involved in inspecting, checking and handling of such materials.
Identifying the suitability of scrap to be charged in electric arc furnaces.
Ensure that the day to day activities of the Inventory control assigned staff conform to all regulations with high standard and completed in time.
Responsible for the control of important Production Raw materials.
Responsible for establishment / revision of Procedures (Operation standards) and in-charge for the same.
In - charge of claims against suppliers and insurance and follow up.
Coordinating stock taking and submission of related reports.
Taking releases for the stevedoring jobs as well as sub-con services in order to procure to pay.
Monthly raw materials tracking in system with Technical & Manufacturing depts. in order to follow the inventory.
Process Departmental documentation and information from a variety of sources in order to support ongoing business activities.
Collate, extract and/or summarise data and produce standard reports, schedules, summaries and letters, seeking additional information where necessary, to support ongoing business activities.
Identify and undertake initial investigations into data discrepancies in order to correct errors and ensure the highest standards of data accuracy.
Carry out ad hoc project work as required, involving internal and/or external liaison, within set guidelines provided by the Manager.
Issuing completion reports at the work execution, mentioning work no., budget amount and actual budget consumed and related information.
Checking of disposal items and updating of records with Finance Dept.
Preparation of charging basket with scrap, sponge iron and Hot Briquetted Iron and supplying to electric arc furnace, according to Sponge Blending Ratio (SBR%).
Supplying ferro-alloys and calcined lime to electric arc furnace through bucket elevators.
Preparation of slag pots and arrangement of slag disposal.
Operation of Truck Scale (Weigh Bridge) and related documentation.
Maintenance and repair work of common bucket elevator, slag pot & calcined lime handling system.
Yard arrangement for storage of raw materials, monthly material balance sheet preparation, yard map preparation.
