Principal Engineer at Associated Consulting Engineers
  • Pakistan
  • October 2011 to March 2013

Period From July 01, 2013 To Date
Position Principal Engineer
Activities In view of my interest in hydrological studies, the management of ACE has gave me an opportunity to do the reservoir sedimentation studies of an international project i.e., Jatiluhur dam project (Indonesia). Jatiluhur is a 105.0 m high earth core rockfill dam, which was constructed across Citrum river in 1965. Since Cirata reservoir was constructed just upstream of Jatiluhur dam in 1985, so to study the cascade effect on reservoir sedimentation of Jatiluhur is an interesting aspect. My responsibilities on the project are as follows:

• Analysis of available sediment and hydrographic survey data.
• Development of average annual sediment load at damsite.
• Preparation of geometric, sediment, river inflows and reservoir levels data as per required format of HEC-6 model.
• Projection of sediment deposition pattern and annual storage loss.

Period From June 01, 2012 To June 30, 2013
Position Principal Engineer
Activities As an active member of the team that was involved in the hydrological and reservoir sedimentation studies of Munda dam project. Munda is a 213.0 m high concrete face rockfill dam, which is planned to be constructed across swat river (Pakistan). Detailed engineering design of Munda dam was carried out by MDC Consultants (a Joint Venture of SMEC International-Australia, Nippon Koei - Japan, National Engineering Services of Pakistan (NESPAK)-Pakistan, and Associated Consulting Engineers (ACE) - Pakistan). My responsibilities on the project were as follows:

• Responsible to conduct water availability and flood studies of Munda dam project using the historic discharges records of damsite. HEC-HMS model was utilized for the development of probable maximum flood. Also responsible to submit the results of these studies to the Client in the form of report.
• Rainfall data has been utilized for the estimation of mean areal precipitation over the catchment area. Moreover, depth area duration analysis has also been carried out for quantification of probable maximum precipitation, which was further used in HEC-HMS model for the estimation of probable maximum flood.
• Independently carried out the reservoir sedimentation studies using RESSASS model in order to assess the life of the Munda reservoir and also prepared the report.

Period From October 13, 2011 To May 31, 2012
Position Principal Engineer
Activities After successful completion of my doctoral studies, I joined ACE to play a vibrant role in the development of Pakistan. My responsibilities are as follows:
• To check the scientific and language quality of the final project report of “Nationwide study of Groundwater Availability and Conjunctive Management”.
• Also involved in the preparation of Expression of Interest (EOI), Proposals and Terms of References of different projects for several clients.

Senior Engineer at BARQAAB Consulting Services
  • Pakistan
  • June 2006 to September 2007

Period From June 14, 2006 To September 2007
Employer BARQAAB Consulting Services (Pvt.) Ltd., Sunny View Estate,
Kashmir Road, Lahore - Pakistan.
Position Senior Engineer
Activities I was one of the active member of the team that involved in the reservoir
sedimentation studies of Basha dam project. Basha dam is 277.0 m high,
which will be the world's highest dam of concrete gravity dam (CGD) type.
Detailed engineering design of Basha dam was carried out by DBC
Consultants (a Joint Venture of Lahmeyer International-Germany, National
Development Consultants (NDC) -Pakistan and BARQAAB Consulting
services-Pakistan) . My responsibilities on the project were as follows:
• Collected sediment and daily discharge historic data of several gauging
stations that are located upstream and downstream of dam-site from different agencies.

• Sediment rating curve at damsite was derived by using the ratings of two stations i.e Partab Bridge (located on the periphery of the reservoir) and Besham Qila (located just downstream of dam-site) . The average
annual sediment yield at dam-site was worked out with already
developed sediment rating.

• Channel geometry data was prepared from the topographic sheets of the reservoir area.

• Prepared the channel geometry and inflow time-series as per
requirement of RESSASS model.

• Sensitivity analysis of the RESSASS model was carried out by changing the percentage of sand and silt inflows. Some verification
runs of the model were carried out using the annual sediment inflow.

• Life of the proposed reservoir was analyzed by considering various
scenarios like flushing, limiting sediment inflows and also by raising the
Minimum operation level (MoL) annually.

• Visited the dam site and catchment area.

Junior Engineer at BARQAAB Consulting Services
  • Pakistan
  • October 2004 to June 2006

Period From October 25, 2004 To June 13, 2006
Employer BARQAAB Consulting Services (Pvt.) Ltd., Sunny View Estate,
Kashmir Road, Lahore - Pakistan.
Position Junior Engineer
Activities Involved in construction supervision of the Mangla dam raising project.
Raising of Mangla dam is also one of the mega water resources project of the country. Construction supervision of raising of Mangla dam was carried out by
MJV Consultants (a Joint Venture of National Engineering Services of
Pakistan (NESPAK) -Pakistan, Associated Consulting Engineers (ACE) -
Pakistan, BARQAAB Consulting Services-Pakistan, MWH-USA and Bennie
Partners-UK) . My responsibilities on the project were:
• Monitoring the physical construction and financial progress with respect to plan.

• Responsible to produce weekly and monthly progress reports.

• Planning, scheduling and budgeting the future site activities.

• Assisted the project manager and deputy project manager for the mobilization of the staff, and in Reporting and Documentation matters.

• Visited the damsite for various purposes.

• Prepared presentations for the client.
