Highlights

Responsibilities
Night Drilling Supervisor
• Manage P&A operations for final abandonment of wells in the Chinguetti offshore oilfield working on the drillship Pacific Santa Ana, leveraging the double derrick of the rig to maximize efficiency of batch operations between blowout preventer (BOP) and intervention riser system (IRS)
• Supervise the operation of IRS for recovery of subsea Christmas trees (XT) and upper completion of the well - Chinguetti field has FMC subsea open water vertical Christmas trees (OXT) - coiled tubing, wireline, slickline & flowback (well testing) equipment in deepwater and also overtrawlable structures, flow base systems and subsea wellheads in shallow water
• Supervise setting of normal balanced cementing plugs, cement plugs with PWC in zones with poor annulus cement/no cement and installation of ROMAR swarf handling equipment as contingency for section milling.
• Deputize for the drilling superintendent on his days off, manage rig operation and lead daily meetings with contractors.
Senior Drilling Engineer
• Participated in the planning of final abandonment of wells in the Chinguetti field and prepared detailed design of well P&A complying with NORSOK D010 and PCSB standards.
• Coordinated with the rig contractor for rig modification to accommodate retrieval of OXT with cut tubing in the moonpool as well as for fabrication of BOP adaptor to avoid clatching between the BOP and template manifold during latching of BOP to template wellheads.
• Completed tendering to acquire services required for the P&A campaign.
• Completed SIT of the intervention riser system (IRS), conducted project risk assessment and prepared the blowout contingency plan for the campaign
• Conducted well integrity risk assessments for all wells using Wellbarrier well integrity management solution
• Coordinated with FMC and executed fatigue analysis of wellheads & conductors to determine left life of the wellheads to conduct P&A of the wells
• Led special risk assessment to pull the OXT under single barrier and prepared required MOC with robust mitigation plan in place.
Highlights
• Completed the first subsea wells suspension program of PETRONAS across the world in the Chinguetti field in Mauritania
• As Senior Drilling Engineer, contributed the design of the wells suspension covering 15 subsea wells in water depth ranging from 500 m to 800 m in the Chinguetti field.

Responsibilities
Night Drilling Supervisor - Mauritania
• Led the team in selection and contracting of the rig with intervention system for P&A campaign in the Chinguetti field
• Joined the drillship Pacific Santa Ana in the Gulf of Mexico, supervised rig survey, installation of subsea intervention system, stacked-up the tree running tool (TRT) test skid, TRT, adaptor spool, lower riser package (LRP) and emergency disconnect package (EDP). Verified all control fluids to NACE 6 standard and conducted SIT of subsea intervention systems. Supervised the positioning of reels & equipment in final positions for the voyage to Mauritania.
• Joined the rig in Mauritania and supervised the installation of Halliburton coiled tubing spread, well test (flow-back) equipment, slickline/wireline equipment and rig-wide H2S cascade system.
• Executed temporary well suspension works for 15 subsea wells (H2S wells) covering the following activities: evaluated integrity of tree cap/swab valves, cleared any present hydrates prior to removal of tree caps, removed tree caps, land & latch of IRS, evaluated FMC OXT valves, killed the well by bullheading (used coiled tubing to mill hydrates and cleaning wax build-up in several wells), conducted slickline runs to drift & run and set RPT plugs (deep set); conducted pressure tests/inflow tests of first barrier plugs, pressure tested & qualified OXT as a second barrier, unlatched & moved off to safe handling zone (SHZ), reinstalled & pressure tested the tree cap and moved the rig to the next well with the IRS system still deployed to subsea.
Senior Drilling Engineer - Mauritania
• Worked in design of well suspension for 15 subsea wells in the Chinguetti field
• Supervised integrity testing of Christmas trees (XT) on board the FPSO and detailed design of well suspension as per NORSOK D010 standard.
• Co-facilitated the risk assessment session for well suspension operation and preparation of risk mitigation plans.
• Completed fast track contracting for engagement of resources - dual activity rig packaged with IRS, 2 work class ROVs and 1 supply vessel - with attractive “one down all down” contracting terms leveraging market scenario for deepwater rigs

• Drilled, production tested and suspended an appraisal well. Supervised jetting of 36” conductor, drilled ahead and killed shallow water flow using DKD mud, set 20” surface casing, drilled 17-1/2” and set 13-5/8 casing, drilled 12-1/4 to coring point; core with 8-1/2” open up with 12-1/4 bottom hole assembly (BHA) and set 9-5/8” liner. Ran Metrol single trip DST assembly and conducted drill stem test (DST)
Night Drilling Supervisor - Noble Bully-2 dual activity rig with Huisman derrick, Malaysia
• Drilled and P&A of an exploration well - the first PMCD deepwater well of PCSB in Malaysia involving drilling with PMCD through a shallow carbonate section due to total losses and narrow margin procedure and/or managed pressure drilling (MPD) for deeper sections

Night Drilling Supervisor - 15K Jack-up Rig PP101 (designed and equipped to drill high temperature high pressure wells as deep as 30, 000 ft capable of operating in water depths up to 400 ft), Malaysia
Responsibilities
• Supervised and reviewed the planning & execution of shallow water drilling operations in the Sabah region using anchored semi-submersible rig Harkyu-5 in water depth of 210 m as well as deepwater drilling for the PCSB domestic operation using the 6th generation DP drillship DDKG-2 in water depths ranging from 1000 m to 2000 m.
• Managed drill and P&A of 5 deepwater wells in water depths ranging from 1000 m to 2000 m and 1 shallow water subsea well in water depth of 210 m.

• Designed and executed deepwater wells in offshore Sarawak and Sabah in water depth ranging from 1400 m to 1800 m using the 5th Generation DP deepwater drillship Deepwater Expedition
• Utilized flat rheology SBM mud to mitigate changes in temperature, DKD mud to mitigate shallow gas and shallow water flow in the riser-less section and eliminated the need for pilot hole in the campaign
• Drill and P&A of 2 deepwater wells - jet the 36” conductor, drilled ahead 24” hole, set 20” as surface casing and ran BOP. Dealt with narrow margin & drilling hazards by running odd sized casing (16” with sub Mudline hanger in the 20”, hole opening with 14-3/4"x17 to set 13-5/8”casing, opening with 12-1/4 x 15" and set 11-3/4”liner with Versaflex Halliburton Expandable Liner, hole opening with 10 5/8” x 12 ¼" set 9-5/8”liner with Versaflex Halliburton Expandable Liner TD in 8-1/2” hole); P&A the 2 wells using sacrificial tubing in the open hole using the release sub
• During the planning stage - worked on the detailed casing design using Compass, CasingSeat & StressCheck and hydraulics using WellPlan; participated in tender planning and evaluation for all third-party services for the campaign; prepared the Well budget & Well AFE Using P1 Probabilistic Timing and Cost Estimate software; conducted the Logistics on Paper for the campaign in Labuan to ensure smooth logistics of this first deepwater project of PCSB in Malaysia; prepared, presented to and obtained approval of the DRC for the well design and prepared the drilling program and NOOP
• During the execution phase worked with the Drilling Superintendent & Senior Drilling Engineer in the office and ensured operational readiness in coordination with onshore service companies related to cementing, drilling fluids, directional drilling & MWD, tubular handling and the rig contractor.
• Participated in the risk assessment and wells DWOP sessions; prepared and conducted the Pre-Spud Meeting on the rig before the start of operation; prepared the Well Blowout Contingency Plan Document including Oil Spill Response and Relief well Plan; coordinated with the onshore Material Coordinator on movement of boats and verification of the materials and products loaded to the rig to ensuring loading of all equipment or materials as per plan; participated in regular morning call with the rig to meet rig requirements and resolve reported design/operational issues; prepared & presented wells operation lessons learnt and well closeout reports to the DRC and prepared End of Well report for each well
• Coordinated handover of the Chinguetti field in Mauritania from Woodside to PETRONAS and participated in planning activities in Perth Australia & Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and the execution & closeout of the PETRONAS exploration & development campaign 2008-2009 in Mauritania.
• Worked in drilling activities in Chinguetti Phase 2B consisting of 1 exploration well, 2 appraisal wells (including well testing), 2 development wells & 3 subsea intervention wells in water depth ranging from 300 m to 800 m using moored rigs Atwood Hunter & Southern Cross
The exploration &appraisal wells adopted slim design typical of Miocene targets - drilled 36” hole & set 30” conductor (producers)/Jet 36” conductor (exploration), drill 17-1/2/18” hole and set 13-3/8” surface casing and TD in 12-1/4” then P&A for exploration well and set 10-3/4 x 9-5/8” for appraisal well to either test or suspend
The 2 development wells followed the Chinguetti development design which differed from the Miocene design with 30” conductor, drilled & cemented through the HOST templates. The wells used the normal enhanced vertical Christmas tree (EVXT) and so the upper completion was run before running the EVXT
The 3 interventions included running EDP/LRP and drill pipe riser system to set shut-off plugs to isolate deep water coning zone after production logging and changing out the gas lift valves in the 3 wells
• During planning phase worked in Perth Australia and Kuala Lumpur Malaysia in detailed casing design, preparation of well design and obtaining approval of DRC and preparation of the drilling program & NOOP
• During the execution phase in Mauritania participated in all activities including coordination with onshore service providers, risk assessments & DWOP, pre-spud meeting, material coordination, daily morning call with the rig and well closeout documentation.
• Participated in the planning and execution phases of the Woodside 2006-2007 drilling campaign in Chinguetti Phase 2A.
• Worked in drilling of 1 exploration well, 1 development well (Chinguetti Phase 1 design but with open hole gravel pack) and 1 subsea intervention (using project IRS (EDP/LRP, drill pipe riser & surface tree) together with the coiled tubing lifting frame and slickline to isolate deep water coning zone by shutting off the lower zone and changing out 1 gas lift valve Rig: Atwood Hunter
• Worked as Well Site Drilling Engineer on board 6th generation dual drill drillship Chikyu in Kenya in water depth of 2200 m - prepared the DDR using Independent Data Services (IDS), daily look ahead schedules, daily well cost reports & casing tallies. Assisted onboard logistics in preparation of manifests and the Night Drilling Supervisor in supervision of operations
• Participated in the execution of the batch development drilling and an exploration campaign in the Chinguetti field using 5th generation dual derrick drillship West Navigator and 5th generation semi-submersible rig Stena Tay
• Represented the Government on board the rigs during the campaign consisting of drill & complete of 6 subsea production wells, 5 water injection wells and 1 gas disposal well
• Slim design was adopted for all the wells (Drill 36” hole& set 30” conductor (Producers)/Jet 36” conductor (Injectors & Exploration), Drill 17-1/2”/18” and set 13-3/8” surface casing, drill 12-/1/4” and set 9-5/8”X10-3/4” production casing (10-3/4” used to accommodate 7.9” OD SCSSSV below hydrate zone). 2 wells drilled with 20” casing to avoid drilling shallow gas riser less. The production wells & gas well were completed with multiple zone frack pack for sand control. The production wells used 5-1/2” tubing and water & gas injectors used 7” production tubing
Used for the first time the Open Water Subsea Christmas Trees (OXTs) and the 2JNB barriers (2 RPT plugs set in the lower completion) to run the OXT in open water
Used Metrol Technology interrogation tool to interrogate gauges between the plugs via means of acoustic telemetry to measure the pressure of trapped fluid between the plugs to confirm their integrity before removing the BOP to run the OXT
The OXTs were run using the Tree Running Tool (TRT) or the Riser Intervention System (EDP/LRP, Drill Pipe Riser) dedicated for this project
The Riser Intervention System ( EDP/LRP, Drill Pipe Riser and surface tree) together with Coil Tubing Lifting Frame and slick line where used for pulling the RPT plugs and Unloading & Clean-Up of the wells
• On completion of the Chinguetti project was seconded from SMH to Woodside to work as Site Drilling Engineer for the exploration campaign during which 5 exploration drills were drilled
• Represented the Government and monitored all petroleum activities including seismic surveys, geochemical exploration and drilling - conducted by various operators working in Mauritania
