The National Committee for Trade and Transport Facilitation (NCTTF) is comprised of several Ministries and the private sector (NCTTF) is responsible for making decisions regarding trade and transport policy. The Secretariat hosted by the Ministry of Transport to supports the work of the (NCTTF). PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES • Coordinate & support the NCTTF meetings, chaired by the Minister of Transport including preparation of agendas & supporting policy documents & other material. • Coordinate & ensure implementation of tasks & projects funded through the Secretariat. • Prepare reports on trade & transport facilitation issues carry out studies related to key issues of the NCTTF & prepare & deliver presentations at meetings. • Liaise with stakeholders in the trade & transport facilitation field. • Liaise with other Secretariats, Ministries & other national & international stakeholders in other countries of the Mashreq region & coordinate activities, share information & collaborate on trade & transport facilitation measures. • Disseminate information & communicate with stakeholders & other parties as needed including the development & implementation of an appropriate public relations / awareness program. • Manage & coordinate policy & political related issues & provide appropriate support for the Secretariat & the NCTTF. • Liaise & collaborate with regional partner countries & their organizations with the aim of improving the trade & transport facilitation situation in the region. • Development of background reports & papers to address important issues to address by the NCTTF & other stakeholders. • Preparation & delivery of presentations for the NCTTF & other stakeholders & domestic & international partners. • Summarize & evaluate research & documents pertaining to transport & trade facilitation. • Contribute to work-plans & other planning activities. • Propose & implement joint agreements for activities with the private sector & dialogue partners, etc. • Represent the Secretariat at meetings with other relevant organizations. • Prepare the necessary documents required for meetings. • Manage the public awareness program for the NCTTF & ensure appropriate dissemination of information.

The aim of this project, based in Amman, is to "increase awareness in Jordan of the MDGs, to demonstrate the leading role of UNDP in advancing the goals and to initiate a debate on the implications of the MDGs for Jordan". We have commissioned and published (in both Arabic and English) eight provocative, journalistic articles, one on each of the development goals, with the aim of stimulating debate. Several of them have also been reprinted in local newspapers. We have drawn up a draft action plan and have an outreach strategy, to discuss the articles in informal groups around Jordan and then post summaries of the groups' questions and conclusions alongside the original articles. Some unprompted debate has begun on the MDG website but this will require more Facilitating.
