Tasnee is one of the largest petrochemical complexes in Saudi Arabia, and I am currently working as Senior
Process Engineer and Process Simulations Subject Matter Expert (SME). My responsibilities include
reviewing licensor technologies, coordinating with licensors, supporting technology selection, developing
process simulation models, and conducting process studies for the Ethylene Cracker and Propane
Dehydrogenation (PDH) plants. I have worked on the following’s key projects;
• Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study to calculate Tasnee products carbon footprints from Cradle-to-Gate.
• Linde Design Package review for PDH Deethanizer off gas recovery and integration to the cracker.
• Licensor PDP package and Feed Package review for Poly Acrylic Acid (PAA) pilot plant.
• Review of different decarbonization options by PDH Licensor (Lummus), Ethane Craker and SMR Licensor
(Linde), LCH technology by Jhonson Matthey and
• Ethylene Cracking Furnace simulation software selection study (SPYRO vs COILSIM1D).
• Simulation model Development of PDH and SMR.
• PDH Deethanizer off gas recovery study.

Currently working as Process Engineer on SRU plants upgrade in Ras Tanura Refinery for the addition of TGT unit downstream of existing Claus process to achieve new emission limitation by General Authority for Meteorology & Environmental Protection (GAMEP).

Worked on Detail Design of HVGO discoloration project by rerouting the CDU over flash stream to VDU along with CDU bottom. This involves Vacuum Charge System upstream system hydraulics, Steam Injection at Vacuum Heater cross over, addition of radiant tubes in vacuum charge heater and Transfer Line Hydraulics with SME support.

Position: Process Engineer
Worked on Project Proposal of Riyadh Refinery SSDA Project as Process Engineer for PZV sizing and flare header sizing. This involves the PZV sizing for the supercritical fluids as well.

Worked as Lead Process Engineer for Feed Project of vapor recovery from Marine Vessels and subsequent combustion at Causeway Tank Farm to reduce VOC emissions and to comply with Royal Commission Environment standard.

 PROJECT: - SASREF Instrumentation Master Plan (IMP) Project Jubail, Saudi Arabia

Position: Lead Process Engineer
Worked as Lead Process Engineer for executing the Detail Design of IMP-III project which included instrumentation and control upgrade for entire refinery. Process intensive control loops such as compressor anti-surge, furnace burners minimum firing control and safeguarding, distillation column overhead vacuum system pressure control, over fill protection control and safeguarding to be upgraded to latest Shell requirements.

Position: Design HSE (DHSE) Engineer
Worked as Design HSE Engineer (DHSE) for the development of thermal radiation and dispersion modeling, Fire Hazard Analysis (FHA) for Jet Fire, Flash Fire, Explosion Modeling (BLEVE, BLAST), Escape Route Design, Safe Operating Limit (SOLR) Register, HP/LP Interface Register, Chemical Register, Safety Related Device (SRD) Registers, and HAZOP studies etc.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Conduct different Engineering Studies to find the root cause of the problem and their mitigations.
• Perform hydraulic calculations to confirm the battery limit conditions. Sizing of pumps and control valves.
• Relief Load estimations for different scenarios and PSV Sizing/Rating of the equipment.
• Bid evaluation, preparation of the Material Requisitions (MR) for PSVs for purchase. Coordination with vendors for the technical review of control valves and the PSVs.
• Preparation of Battery Limit Tables, Utility Summary and Alarm & Set Points list.
• Equipment sizing such as two phase separator, heat exchangers and tanks sizing.

Position: Area Lead Engineer
LPG/NGL recovery project mainly consists of oil stabilization section (which includes three phase separators, heat exchangers, Associate gas compressors, etc.) and LPG & NGL recovery section (which includes gas dehydration & cryogenic units, De-Ethanizer & Butanizer etc.). My responsibilities were;

• LPG Bullet sizing
• Atmospheric Vent sizing/Dispersion Analysis
• Skim tank vent KO Vessel Sizing

 PROJECT:- Borouge-Poly Olefins Flare Recovery Project
 CLIENT: - Abu Dhabi Polymers Company Limited
Position: Area Lead Engineer
Polyethylene and Polypropylene flare gas along with the Nitrogen is recovered and after washing and compression, Nitrogen is separated in BORSIG Membrane System, Ethylene and Propylene is recovered in hydrocarbon recovery unit using lights gas column and C3/C4 column. Along with initial sizing of columns my responsibilities are;

Makori surface facility was developed for production and sale of Natural gas, Oil/Condensate and LPG using gas primarily from wells of Makori. My responsibilities were;

 PROJECT: - 4000 M.T Double wall New Ammonia Storage Tank
 CONTRACTOR: - Etimaad Engineering (Pvt.) Limited
Position: Process Engineer
My responsibilities were;
• Technical evaluation of Ammonia tank sizing
• Commissioning of new Ammonia tank
• HAZOP study & P&ID review of new Ammonia storage tank

DHFL is Ammonia/Urea plant having total capacity of 815 MTPD Ammonia and 1100 MTPD Urea Fertilizer. As Process Engineer I had worked on the following units of M.W Kellogg designed Ammonia plant.
(a)De-sulphrization unit (b)Reforming unit (c)High & Low temperature shift convertors (d)CO2 removal unit (e)Ammonia conversion and refrigeration unit.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Calculation of material and energy balance of ammonia plant for trouble shooting and approach to Equilibrium Temperature of catalysts to evaluate their performance.
• Rating and sizing of equipment’s with the help of engineering design software’s.
• Preparation of PFD’s, P&ID’s, and process equipment data sheets and their technical evaluation.
• Review and provide process input of all prospective and ongoing engineering projects.
• Review and check all engineering documents provided by vendors and contractors and provide guidance and clarifications.
• Monitoring of process parameters of following equipment’s:- Hydrotreater, Desulphrizers, Reformer, High Temperature Shift Converter, Low Temperature Shift Converter, Catacarb System, Methanator, Ammonia Converter etc.
• Carrying out inspection activities during plant downtime.


Achievements:
• Worked as a Team Leader for implementation of “DuPont” Process Safety Management System. My responsibilities were: - Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Incident Investigations, Task Risk Assessment and all activities which come under the heading of Management of Change (MOC).
• Reduced 1.5 MMSCFD Fuel Gas demand of Primary Reformer, by successful washing of primary reformer convection section tubes during annual turn-around.
• Reduced Primary reformer furnace HOTSPOTS temperatures from 1700oF to 1650oF with the help of optical pyrometer and manual adjustment of burners firing.
• Prepared Startup and Shutdown checklists to reduce equipment, machinery and reactors mishandling/damage.
• Successfully completed controlled oxidation of reduced Ammonia converter catalyst over a short period of one year.
