The King Abdulaziz International airport (KAIA) expansion includes a 670, 000 square meters passenger terminal complex with a twin crescent footprint. It includes 94 boarding bridges, lounges, an airside hotel, food and retail facilities. The expansion also includes construction of a transportation center featuring a rail station, a 136 meters high air traffic control tower, taxiways, roads, tunnels, utilities networks, support facilities, fuel tank farm, internal gardens and walkways. Engaged by Dar Al Handasa as HSE Manager for the KAIA development project, I was responsible for overall implementation of HSE management in the project implementing the requirements set by General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA). Leading a team of 8 safety engineers in different zones and areas of the project and developing measures and practices that prevent accidents and ensure compliance with standards. Conduct weekly walkthrough and continuously monitoring the workplace for hazardous safety and health conditions and ensuring hazards are corrected, eliminated or guarded.
