Estate Development - University of Lagos, Serenity Garden Estate
Serenity Garden Estate is an estate being built by the University to address acute housing needs of staff members of the University Community. It is a project being driven to meet strict LEED certification guidelines.
I am currently a Consultant to the Multi-Million Dollar project, where I am expected to give expert advice on the construction and development of infrastructure for the project.
Project Technical Consultant, 10, 000m³ Water Tank Project (Jan 2017 - Date)
I assisted a major contractor to put a bid together for the construction of three 10, 000m³, pre-stressed and Post-tensioned reinforced concrete water tanks. I am the lead structural consultant and my role is to assess the proposed structural drawings, bill of quantities and commercial documents to advice the contractor on the Viability of the project.
Roads Segment Project Manager
Project Manager for 12 million Dollar Ashaka - Bajoga PPP project
In this role I developed the project charter, programs for trial sections, man power schedule and managed the finance aspects of the project. I co-ordinated the interface be-tween multi-disciplinary teams that consisted of consultants, a contractor and the client. Budget for the trial section project is about 1 Million USD and I will be responsible for effective use of this budget.
I am required to develop the Road business strategy for the company each year. Currently I am developing the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model for the Ashaka - Bajoga road. A project with an estimate cost of 9 Million USD. Funds used to build this road will be recovered through the tax rebate structure of the Federal
Government.
Design and Construction
Designed a two storey residential building on pile foundation. The building is located on a plot with soils of very poor bearing and ground water. The design has been approved by the Building Control Agency and Construction has commenced
Supervised the construction of a privately owned 2-storey residential building project in Lekki, Victoria Island, Lagos. Foundation works were challenging due to very poor soil bearing capacity. I was able to save costs for the client by redesigning various components in the building structure. Construction is complete and the building is being used
Structural Design and supervision of construction for Pile foundation underpinning project due to settlement challenges. My role included structural design, detailing with Autocad 2016 and supervision of strengthening works.
Project Management - Building Construction
Design and Construction of Lafarge Roads/Geotechnical Laboratory
I am responsible for the delivery of Road Projects and in-house reconstruction projects. This involves, preparing and monitoring project programmes, coordinating progress meetings, ensuring QA procedures are followed on technical matters, ensuring standards are achieved on technical matters, managing the project finance and preparing progress reports.
My work description involved Structural Analysis, structural assessment of existing structures, design management and design of new structures, preparing financial reports, managing the document control system of projects, attending project meetings. I am proficient in the design of various foundations types, strengthening of existing structures to support new/increased loads, structural components and project site supervision.
I am also able to assist with the preparation of bid documents for phases of different projects. the management of consultants, contractors and subcontractors, some of the projects where I played very active roles are noted below.
Gerrards Cross Project
I worked in the design team of the Gerrards Cross project. This is the design of an outlet for Tesco stores. The proposed store will be built on a tunnel made of precast arch units.
I undertook the design of the east portal section of the project. This section of the project acts in conjuction with a mass concrete backfill and comprises a two pin RC arch as the primary structural element for the life of the project.
I carried out the following tasks on this project:
- High containment parapet design
- Stitch slab design
- Pile and pile cap design
- Train impact analysis
I also designed various aspects of the temporary works for this project.
Green Park Station (Step Free Access Project)
This project was a major extension of the Green Park Station, which is part of the London Underground network. The project was developed to accommodate (1 No) street to ticket hall lift and (2 No) ticket hall to platform lifts. The project required a complete rebuild of several street level structures and landscaping of the entire area where the project is located. I was responsible for the design management and structural design of various elements of this project.
I worked on a 1 million pounds office building for M.T.N Nigeria communications limited. I was responsible for aspects of the structural design that entailed loading of various components in the structure, design with the use of software (STRUCT 1). And AutoCAD detail. I also changed aspects of the design to suite changes required by the architect during construction. My role on site included setting out of buildings, supervision of R.C construction, finishes and external works.
The projects noted above are located in two states of the country; I was involved in the design and construction of both projects.
