The role covers operational and strategic safety assurance and promotional matters relating to airside and landside safety related disciplines or spheres of operations; managing Safety Assurance and Training Section core activities. Responsible for promoting of aviation and occupational health and safety standards and practices at the airport. Active part of senior management team, involved with operations but also strategic promotional planning and training from both airport management and internal company requirements viewpoint. Responsible for the Aerodrome Safety Management System compliance monitoring, implementation and promotion. Co-chair of the committee for the development and rollout of OH&S management plan for the airport and its stakeholders. Hamad International Airport representative to the Qatar Airways Group corporate Occupational Health and Safety Steering Committee. Manager of Emergency Operations Center at Hamad and Doha International Airport.
Responsible for developing and facilitating a variety of aviation/airlines industry and occupational health and safety courses in accordance with 70:20:10 learning concept, using adult-learning focused techniques and methodology. Developed and rolled out Fire Warden Training and Fire Safety in Accommodation online training package. Responsible for facilitating courses as Workplace Managing Hazards and Risks, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health, Safe Chemical Handling, Air Crew Fire and Smoke Training. Responsible for development of action plans, design and development of training curriculum, utilise coaching techniques to improve employee performance and research and recommend changes to training curricula content.
Successfully implemented workplace Health and Safety system for European Union Common Security and Defence Policy within Rule of Law Mission to Kosovo, the development of which was considered to be a pioneering function. Indeed, this model is now being strongly adopted within other EU Crisis management missions including the ones in Middle East. Carried out regular fire & safety reviews of all facilities and buildings. Supported in an advisory capacity Mission Security Officers in relation to training requirements. Developed and implemented Fire, Health & Safety training for all designated Mission personnel and Contractors. Specialized expertise on various safety issues supporting 3000 mission personnel. Conducted H&S assessments and investigations. Liaised with relevant key local and governmental authorities for all mission and public safety matters. Analysed hazardous conditions and assigned risk assessment codes for use by departments to prioritize and budget corrective actions. Prepared and monitored division budget requirements and expenditures. Developed fire prevention program for Mission employees, including building evacuation procedures thus organizing semi-annual fire drills for all mission occupancies. Developed Fire Warden System program. Responsible for annual fire extinguisher maintenance program. Conducting periodic inspections of job sites to ensure environmental, health & safety compliance.
Successfully implemented policies and procedures set forth by National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) on Fire Prevention Publications and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to the International Airport in Kosovo. I have successfully established and coordinated Fire & Safety and Fire Prevention and Inspection Division within Kosovo International Airport. I was directly responsible for supervision and coordination of Fire Prevention Inspectors, scheduling and conducting fire prevention educational programs for the public through personal contact and lectures. Also responsible for special safety promotional campaigns, maintaining of a comprehensive library of applicable safety codes, regulations and ordinances pertaining to health, safety and fire prevention matters.
Responsible for the translation, formatting, and proctoring of testing instruments for the Basic Training Program as well as Advanced/Specialized Training Courses and Modules at Kosovo Police Service School. Specific responsibilities covered translation, formatting and proctoring of mid-term, final, and remedial tests; the translation of questions that tested student knowledge/application of goals and objectives of the training curricula; presentation to classroom instructors on how to administer the test; the proctoring of tests; writing of final reports providing an analysis of test questions and student performance after tests; translation of course materials and other consecutive interpretation and translation duties.
