• Community Relations:
- Building, maintaining positive relationships, and engaging with all stakeholders (Wadi Hadramout Local Authority, Seiyun & Sah Local Councils, Government Offices, and Civil Society Organizations within TOTAL-Yemen, block-10
- Making necessary arrangements for company reps with key stakeholders, and creating awareness within Seiyun and Sah communities about production activities and developmental projects.
- Ensuring proper implementation of company Grievance Management Procedure and reporting all community grievances, mainly pollution, and camel deaths complaints.
- Updating CR&D key stakeholders contact list, as well as bringing up-to-date information about contractors registered in the company database within the block.
• Community Development
- Representing TOTAL in events and ceremonies, signing contractual documents for the launched projects (1, 000, 000$ /year), and providing necessary reports and photos (documentation).
- Representing TOTAL in the steering committee meetings of the 429, 000$ Rayyan Micro-finance Program run by Al-Nahdha Association in Seiyun and Sah districts, and monitoring the financed projects.
- Identifying, prioritizing, proposing community projects, based on needs, recognizing, potential problems, and proposing mitigation methods.
- Participating in the Local Development Committee meetings, reporting minutes of meetings to hierarchy. Besides, preparing project documents after approval of the LDC.
- Confirming project implementation, after checking procedural documents, specifications conformity, and conducting M & E of the implemented projects.
- Preparing notes and giving technical viewpoints on the agricultural issues and memos.

In collaboration with the head of Community Relation division I build, maintain positive relationships, and engage with all stakeholders (Authority, Business and Civil Society) within the block based on listening and respect. I also make necessary arrangements for meetings and visits of company reps with key stakeholders as per defined annual consultation/engagement plan. Besides, I usually play a vital role in creating awareness among local community about planned production activities as well as developmental projects
The CLC is participating in the identification of community needs and priorities, also proposing projects that address community needs.
Moreover, the CLC assists the head of Community Development division in preparing a selected project documents after being approved by the Local Development Committee (LDC), and upon request of the head of CD division, goes over any received documents and provides feedback.
Normally, the CLC contributes in checking any drafted procedural documents, as assigned by the head of CD division. Similarly, the CLC takes part in the confirmation of project implementation at the field level, and checks specifications conformity. Additionally, he prepares notes and gives technical viewpoints on some agricultural issues and memos referred to by the head of CD division. Likewise, the CLC participates in M & E of the implemented projects.
The CLC is usually represents the company in events and visits and launching projects ceremonies and provide the necessary reports and photos.
The CLC regularly attends LDC meetings and reports back to hierarchy minutes of meetings, and in the absence of the head of CD division, represents TEPY in meetings or steering committee of any project.
The CLC always Identifies and anticipates potential problems and proposes mitigation methods as well as identifies key stakeholders and useful contacts within the block in order to update CR&D contact list.
Furthermore the CLC has to ensure proper implementation and reporting of all community grievances as per TEP Yemen’s Grievance Management Procedure. On daily, weekly and monthly and ad-hoc bases, the CLC provides the Block 10 head of CD division with professional reports with sufficient details, data, and photos of visits, events, and engagements. He reports on community perceptions, emerge of new important contacts, new societal trends, and community issues important to TEP Yemen

As a Community Liaison Officer, I was appointed by TEP Yemen mainly to ensure the development of a positive and open relationship between the company and local communities and stakeholders.

I carry out scheduled daily, weekly, and monthly visits to local communities listening to their concerns, including those which may not be directly related to TEPY presence. Regular meetings are organized with representatives of community stakeholder groups in which clear messages are delivered to communities about Total's operational activities and what the company can do and what it cannot do in terms of support to local communities..

In addition to organizing regular public meetings in communities directly impacted by total activities, I also report weekly on community perceptions and questions from the community about Total’s activities, generic community issues, and overall observations (in-migration to the area, conflict issues/rumours. I am also trying to identify, where possible, opportunities for Total to support new initiatives that will benefit the community.

Part of my job is to ensure access to, and maintain contacts with key formal and informal stakeholders (opinion leaders) in neighbouring communities on a regular basis. I am also representing Total at cultural gatherings or festivals if appropriate. On the other hand, I am receive grievances and ensure their onward transmission to the appropriate channel within the company, and provide advice to Total on how to engage in a culturally respectful manner.

The historic city of Shibam, Hadramout granted 1.500.000 € for a food security project. Through this project the GTZ rehabilitated the traditional flood irrigated area surrounding Shibam with all its complexity, in 10 months only. The project was implemented in collaboration Arrebbah Agricultural Cooperative.

Direct results:
- Renovate all components of the traditional flood irrigation system, i. e. the check dam, main and lateral channels, stone structures (field gates, water dividers, spillways, etc).
- Establish a continuous masonry retaining wall at weak spots of the main channel at dimensions of (1700m Length x 6m Height), fortifying critical locations subject to frequent breakages, plus gabion spurs to reduce soil erosion, around 500 m3 in volume.
- Clean channels from debris, including weeds, shrubs, trees and mud sediments.
- Renovate 93 small mud houses for farmers, 5 mud watch towers, 6 drinking fountains, 3 public toilets, 5 new small bridges within the oasis (available facilities).
- Conduct 17 training courses (3 for the agricultural NGO + 11 for local farmers + 3 for women). The total number of participants was 570 (434 males and 136 females).
- Prepare 6 technical studies for the agricultural NGO.
- Establish a plant nursery and a shop for agri-service for the NGO.
- Drill 2 coated artesian water wells, up to 250m deep, for supplementary irrigation
- Prepare designs and tender documents for all the new irrigation system, including reservoirs, main pipelines, laterals, control system, etc.

Own contribution:
I managed the project in close cooperation with the board of food security program and other cooperating programs at the GTZ in Sana'a. As a field manager, I also steered and directed the 4 teams implementing sub-projects in the field of flood protection, dual irrigation, agriculture and rehabilitation of mud buildings. Moreover, I was preparing operational and financial plans for spending the allocated project budget in the given time.
