Carrying out repairs and maintenance on light, medium and heavy vehicles, including fork lifts and
Caterpillar make of machines and equipment;
Carrying out electrical and electronic repairs on vehicles and heavy equipment;
Installing and repairing vehicle fleet monitoring system (Carlog System);
Engine and transmission repairs including overhauling, service braking system, steering, cooling and fuel systems, suspension wheel alignment and axle units;
Ensuring strict safety procedures are followed when repairing and fitting vehicle replacement parts;
Conducting pre-issue check and repairs of vehicles received from other missions and generating
technical reports as required;
Assisting to generate vehicle maintenance and repair work orders through inventory management
system (Galileo system) and issuing jobs to national mechanics;
Checking to ensure all relevant vehicle documents such as maintenance record cards, insurance, carlog, tools and equipment issued to the vehicles are in place;
Assisting with carrying out road tests on vehicles after completed repairs;
Supervising of national staff and (non-)governmental counterparts, including
Implementing Partners (IPs)
Capacity development through coaching, mentoring and formal and on-the-job training for workshop technicians.
Manage, organize and control an efficient mechanical engineering workshop including the management of Technicians and Mechanics.
Manage, plan, control and organize planned preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance on all plants, fleet and equipment in order to maximize their lifespan and ensure their safety.
Responsible for all major installation or maintenance projects, leading a team of Technicians assigned to the task.
Monitoring the performance of mechanical plants and installations, heavy duty earth moving equipment and machinery ensuring remedial is undertaken to prevent failures/loss of the plant and equipment.
Production of Job Sheet and allocation of work on daily basis to the Mechanical Technicians, monitoring work progress and inspecting completed work to ensure the required standard are achieved.
Create and maintain a register of all workshop equipment to manage the timely calibration and maintenance of the equipment.
Manage administration of mechanical workshop by ensuring that all log books and departmental records are effectively maintained to enable stock control, ordering of parts and all other workshop functions operates efficiently.
Manage the workshop budget by ensuring control of stock items to Technicians thereby ensuring that all materials are requisitioned from store in the correct manner.
Introduce and anchor staff training program to ensure personnel are adequately trained for the task they are due to perform.
Establish, implement and monitor safe working practices and procedures. Perform and record routine safety inspection on equipment and work sites and ensure that the fleet conforms to all health, safety and environment rules and regulations to minimize any danger or accidents.
Planning, organizing and supervising of maintenance and operation of heavy duty earth moving construction equipment, machineries and vehicles.
Preparation of Daily Project Review (DPR) on the usage of fuel, materials and the consumables to the management
Coordination with Stores, Project Quantity Surveyor and Purchasing Department on the availability and stock level of materials to prevent down-time and to meet target.
Organize and supervise preventive maintenance activities in order to optimize usage of equipment and machineries.
Reduces benefit administration/compensation cost by ensuring strict adherence and compliance to safety rules and procedures by the staff.
Ensure provision of technical support to the construction team to maximize financial recovery and ensure a first class fleet repairs and maintenance record.
Oversees operation, usage and maintenance of site facilities such as Bore Hole for the provision of water for the project and domestic purposes, Generator to serve as back up for electricity from the national grid.
Preparation of maintenance and engineering activities on site.
Preparation of workshop budget proposal and expenditure in a timely manner.
Preparation of workshop weekly progress report, bi-weekly progress report and monthly machinery status report to the management.
My duties entail presently, the followings
Head the preventive maintenance and repairs team of the Dairy/Juice distributing and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) operating Trucks.
Oversees and co-ordinate safety of LPG Trucks while carrying out repairs maintenance work by making adequate provision for safety items on every Trucks.
Diagnosing and trouble shooting of problems, faults and leakages on LPG Gas Tanks and ensures that the repairs is carried out in safe manner
Co-ordination of engineering and maintenance activities in the workshop.
Drawing up and planning of service and repairs schedules for vehicles and trucks.
Diagnosing and trouble shooting of problem and faults on trucks and articulated vehicles.
Preparation and submission of daily, weekly and monthly maintenance reports on trucks and recommend repairs where necessary to the management for prompt action.
Provide report on workshop activities and vehicle conditions to the management.
File record of all repairs and inspections in each truck file
Supervise all workshop staff activities and allocation of daily work to technicians i.e. mechanics, auto-electricians, welders, panel beaters and vulcanizers and to ensures speedy completion of jobs to meet the company target.
Organize Mechanic and electrician for prompt recovery of road breakdowns.
