➢ Additional responsibilities included the research and composition of original reports in relation to S.S.U. matters as well as annual appraisals and continuous assessments for all staff within the unit.
➢ Wrote the Facial Identification Policy for Cleveland Police and the Working Practices Document for the Scientific Support Unit. Involved in the development of 'Locard', an exhibits monitoring system.

➢ Involved the examination of burglary scenes and stolen vehicles; however, during those years I was fortunate to have had a direct involvement in a wide range of major crime scene examinations.

This research explores the interrelationship between the rise of what some authors call ‘new vocationalism’ (Marks 1999; Ainley et al 2007; Archer et al 2007) within Higher Education (HE) and the increased emphasis on managerialism and professionalism in Policing (Newburn et al 2007) within the United Kingdom (UK) today. The research will explore relevant theoretical approaches to interrogate case study field data in an effort to relate it to the broader role and purpose of HE and explore the impact on students, staff and the institution involved.
