Worked for Two years as a senior project manager in the construction of an Oil and Gas project with Snaprogetti as the EPC contractor. I was assigned an operations manager for three heavy duty fabrication, engineering and contracting facilities in Kuwait and the UAE (ABJ Engineering & Contracting). We focused on the production of Oil and Gas equipment, manufacture, transport, erection and precommissioning of dsalination and industrial plants, HRSGs for power plants, structural steel for industrial plants and stadium roof structures, process skids and packages, pressure vessels etc. To carry out this work we were heavily involved in all aspects of plant and systems management, QA/QC, OH&S, Certifications, Construction permits, Contracts and contracts administration, management control systems such as ERP and SAP. Cost and Budget control, Gross profits, billing and collection etc Responsibles for a workforce of 1500 direct manpower and 200 staff of engineering, production and QC.
I have assigned responsibilities in different countries to manage different projects. In Athens as a Mechanical project support manager, in Oman as a Construction Manager of a Gas upstream facility, in Egypt as a plant manager of a fabrication facility of structural steel, pressure vessels and cement plants, fertilizer plants equipment. I was involved in all aspects of engineering practices and management related to the projects executed. QA/ QC, Safety, Project estimation, project execution plans, budgeting and control, engineering design and implementation of software for design and generation of drawings, Corrosion control and application of corrosion control and fire proofing systems etc.
I was responsible for the operations of Corrosion protection division which in addition to appliaction of painting, lining and coating system in house and on sites we were a manufacturer of GRP (Glass renforced Plastics) equipment, such as piping, tanks, petrol tanks and other industrial equipment. We also were doing fabrication and services in thermo plastics equipment using, PVC, Polyprop, Resin systemsin Vinylester, polyethelene, and polyester resins, PTFE and PVDF.
I was emplyed by Ameron in California as a design engineer responsible for the design of mechanical and hydraulic systems working at the equipment engineering division in the head office in Los angeles. I was transfered to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and was assigned the responsibility to manage two production plants in Dammam.The main products produced were reenforced concrete pipe, concrete cylinder pipe, prestressed concrete pipe, cement lined pipe and Epoxy glass reenforced pipe( Bondstrand). Management of the plant included the day to day operations, manpower and improving productivity, quality and meeting completion and financial targets.
I was involved as a project engineer in the construction of fuel pump stations and cement plants in Syria, desalination plants in UAE, Dubai ( Jabal Ali) and in power plants in Dubai.
I was mainly responsible for the erction of sections of the plants and for the performance and productivity of the manpower.
I have also recieved a Masters of Art degree in Economics from California State University Los Angeles in 1982. I have been to numerous managment and Technical Seminars and courses during the span of my career. I have been trained in managment systems such as ERP and SAP and Microsoft application software.
