• Manage the credit risk of Byblos Bank portfolio of borrowers (corporate and middle market clients) in the Middle East region and specifically in Byblos Bank Iraq and Byblos Bank Syria subsidiaries, in addition to other borrowers in KSA and UAE that are directly borrowing from Byblos Bank Lebanon through its International Corporate Department
• Review and analyze each credit file (upon initiation and once per year) before sending it to the credit committee for final approval making sure that it fits within Byblos Bank policies and risk appetite. The risk assessment and financial analysis covers all aspects of the borrower (5Cs: character, capacity, capital, collateral, conditions) after making sure that all the required information is properly disclosed through open communication with all relevant parties (Relationship Managers, Customer Information Department, Legal Counsel, Compliance Officers…)
• Monitor the credit portfolio to identify borrowers that are witnessing due unpaid accounts on a Bi-weekly basis using the available MIS tools. Communicate with the relationship managers to identify the causes and set the proper remedial actions plans. Propose an action plan to treat adverse deterioration in borrower’s financial health or sector or sovereign risks & recommend classification when necessary. Highlight and report any portfolio concentrations or any breach to the laws, rules, and regulations set by the bank or by the regulatory authorities
• Ensure proper documentation upon reviewing client’s files to support bank’s legal enforceability with respect to the established debt & to the held collateral
• Review the credit policies and procedures of the related subsidiaries to make sure that they properly identify the risks that are not within the risk appetite set by the relevant committees and that they assign a set of controls or measures to mitigate the risk to the acceptable risk return level
