Project Scope: Central Utility Plants, Utilities and Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP)

I was responsible for Project Execution by Installation, Erection & Commissioning of following Mech. Equipment:

• York MaxE Centrifugal, Water-cooled Chillers (2500 TR capacity) and Induced Draft Cooling Tower
• York Air Handling Units (York YMA VAV & CAV Chilled Water Air Handling Units, FCU’s)
• Potable & Fire Water Pumping Stations (Both electric & diesel engine driven)
• Ductile Iron (D.I), High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Copper, Black Steel Piping & Plumbing Systems
• Fire Fighting System (FM 200, Fire Hydrants, Sprinkler System, Pre-action Sprinkler System)

Key Responsibilities:

• Installation, Testing, Balancing and Commissioning of HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Fighting System.
• Responsible for the execution of the project under Project Manager to achieve project deliverables within time & cost constraints. Also to ensure high quality and safety standards.
• Manage a team of foremen, welders, riggers, scaffolders, millwrights, pipe fitters and plumbers to ensure that all works are performed according to manufacturer recommendations.
• Construction supervision and management of all mechanical activities including equipment installation, piping fabrication, installation, testing, heaving lifts and transportation plans.
• Testing, Adjustment and Balancing of Water and Air Distribution in ducting for Air Conditioning System.
• Check and review of equipment layouts, plot plans, GA drawings, detail drawings, piping plans, piping isometrics and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s).
• Review project plans and proposals. Identify project responsibilities by determining the phases and elements of the project. Incorporate change requests in the execution activities as well.
• Planning, Procurement and Inspection of tools, equipment and critical/routine spare parts within budget.
• Prepare documents such as presentation materials for meetings and follow up of the results of meetings.
• Prepare status reports and regularly monitor budget and schedule. Allocate project resources appropriately.
• Perform routine HS&E audits to ensure that work is being performed in accordance with project requirements.
• Participate in STARRT talks to inform workers of risk associated with their assigned tasks.
• Ensure Log-Out/Tag-Out System is in place and its procedures are observed during project works.
• Ensure that permit is obtained for live systems requiring isolation for installation services and that isolated systems shall be re-activated after completion of works with proper close-out of permit.
• Ensure quality of mechanical deliverables during equipment installation, piping fabrication/installation and commissioning. Review the procedures to complete these activities.
• Responsible for Engineering Management of multi-discipline as well as single discipline jobs.
• Participate in Client meetings and Vendor meetings to solve problems during project execution.

Worked as Project Mechanical Engineer to manage New Projects and Modification of existing installations. Major equipment on which I worked are:

 Medium and High Pressure Field Erected Boilers (80 T/H x 3: 25 bar, 350°C), (100 T/H x 1: 65 bar, 500°C)
 Steam Turbines
 Pumps and High Pressure Piping

Major Projects:

• Installation, Erection and Commissioning of field erected 35 Tons/Hour Boiler (60 bar, 480°C) by modification of existing 25 T/H boiler (ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, BPVC-1)
• Erection and Commissioning of 3MW (60 bar, 480°C) & 15MW (65 bar, 500°C) Chingdao Steam Turbine
• Design modification of two existing 80 Tons/Hour (25 bar, 350 °C) Yoshimine design boilers by installing Economizer Coils to increase the thermal efficiency of boiler up to 2% (ASME BPVC-1)
• Installation of high pressure boiler feed water pumps and associated piping
• Design feasibility of Pulverized Coal conversion for 100 Tons/Hour (65 bar, 500°C) bagasse fired boiler

Key Responsibilities:

• Planning, executing, monitoring & control and closing of projects as project incharge to enhance the efficiency of existing systems or to meet business objectives for new projects.
• Design and estimate feasibility of a project and its payback period. Do necessary calculations to support the feasibility of new/modification project.
• Planning of approved project to finalize the scope. Sequence activities and assign resources to produce a project timeline and cost estimates.
• Prepare Bill of Materials, Bill of Quantities and Equipment specification.
• Procurement and Inspection of tools, equipment and critical/routine spare parts within budget.
• Review contractor bids; interview and assign personnel to specific phases and elements of the project through project coordination and kick-off meetings. Oversee and coordinate the technical aspects of the project.
• Prepare status reports and regularly monitor budgets, contractors and schedules. Allocates project resources appropriately and mitigate the risks associated with the project.
• Present procedures, rules and regulations to those involved in the project; maintains a safe & clean environment.
• Ensure compliance with Lock Out/Tag Out procedures to ensure safe and risk free work.
• Coordinates the development of procedures for commissioning of relevant Projects together with Operations.
• Manage the erection and commissioning phases of projects by ensuring good supervision, planning, co-ordination, safety planning and quality assurance.
