Industrial engineering draws upon specialized knowledge and skill in the mathematical, physical, and social sciences together with the principles and methods of engineering analysis and design, to specify, predict, and evaluate the results to be obtained from such systems. IE's can develop a better way of doing just about anything. Industrial engineering has grown to encompass any methodical or quantitative approach to optimizing how a process, system, or organization operates. Traditionally associated in large part with planning the layouts of factories and designing assembly lines and other manufacturing likes, today industrial engineering has moved to also work for eliminating wastes of time, money, materials, energy, and other resources.

The programme focuses on the fields of telecommunications, instrumentation and control systems and data communications and networks. This programme prepares the students for positions as engineers with the technical and managerial skills necessary to enter careers in the design, application, installation and maintenance of electronic systems. Students gain experience in digital and embedded systems, programming and system control. Graduates are well prepared for analysis, applied design, development and implementation of electronic systems.
