Carry out tasks and roles of the Environment Manager in project.
• Preparing the monthly Environmental & Sustainability Statistics Report and KPI Report.
• MME Permit applications for all project activities (crushers, dewatering, Micro-tunneling, fuel storage, batching and ready mix …etc).
• Conducting daily and weekly inspections as per CEMP requirements and MME permits conditions and applicable MME regulations and standards.
• Collecting weekly samples from dewatering system to verify the compliance of the treated water with GCC standards prior the injection to the deep well.
• Removal of trees obstructing the construction work in accordance with SCDL and MME standards and regulations
• Attending weekly meeting with GEC.
• Closing any observations or environmental issues raised by the consultant.
• Waste management and issuing of landfill permits (Rawdat Rashid, Messaeid …etc.).
• Air quality & noise monitoring and preparing the relevant reports.
• Preparing induction training and tool box talks materials.
• maintaining all Environmental data, records, documents in accordance with ISO 14001 EMS.
ALYSJ JV is the assigned Contractor for the design and construction of the gold line metro project in Doha.
I'm the Environmental Coordinator for the Eastern sites of Doha Golden Metro Line Project, The roles and responsibilities are as follows:
a. Conducting daily and weekly inspection for all Eastern sites to insure their compliance with CEMP, relevant permits conditions and applicable MOE regulations and standards.
b. Preparing technical environmental reports (Dewatering Report, observation reports, NCR reports, incident and complaint reports…etc).
c. Conducting relevant training & induction programs, tool box talks …etc
d. Insuring that the proposed mitigation measures are implemented by site managers and relevant employees (senior site engineer, site engineer…etc).
e. Carrying out monitoring and measurements activities on regular basis (noise level monitoring, dust and particulate matters concentration, sampling and analysis of water effluent from dewatering system).
f. Supervising waste management in Eastern construction sites and insuring that all hazardous wastes are properly stored, segregated, labeled and disposed.
g. Insuring that all Environmental data, records, documents are maintained and updated in accordance with ISO 14001 EMS.
h. Attending weekly meetings with PMC (the consultant of the project) and sites managers to discuss the important environmental issues, and following up MOM recommendations.
Conducting EIA Studies for Industrial plants in KSA in accordance with General Presidency of Meteorology and Environment Protection regulations and standards.
2. Environmental auditing, inspection, monitoring, groundwater sampling and recommending control measures for Power generation plants in West Region.
a. Conducting field inspection for 12 power generation plants in west region ( Mekkah, Jeddah, Taif, Madina 1&2, Rabigh, Shoaiba, Yanbu, El-Wajh, Duba, Tabuk 1&2) in monthly basis.
b. Issuing a monthly report including inspection results and proposed corrective actions and recommendations in relation to safety and Environment.
c. Carrying Out Environmental measurement and monitoring for air emissions, ambient air quality, noise level On a quarterly basis, verifying their compliance with PME, IFC and other applicable standards, and Recommending appropriate control measures.
d. Groundwater sampling, Analysis in an authorized lab every (6) months.
e. Supervising waste management and fly ash loading, transporting and final disposal which generated from Rabigh and Shoaiba Power Plants.
3. Monitoring of pollutants and assess the environmental situation for 5 power generation plants in Central region ( Riyadh PP5& PP10, Central Qassim, Hail 2 and Wadi Al-Dawaser ).
a. Evaluate the current environmental status of each power plant and determine compliance using relevant environmental regulations and standards.
b. Assess the Potential Environmental Impacts of each power plant when operating on full load.
c. Emission and Dispersion Study of Air Pollutants (NOx, S02, PM10, O3, CO).
d. Reviewing Solid & Liquid Waste, VOC’s and Fugitive Emissions Management Systems, providing recommendations for upgrading or for Best Management practices (BMP) to meet relevant environmental regulations and standards and ISO 14001.
e. Study and Analysis of Noise dispersion and Impact on Health and Safety of Power Plants Employees and on power plant Neighboring residents.
f. Study the pollution impact on soil (contamination) and determine compliance using relevant standards.
g. Assessing the existing pollution control systems for each pollution type and provide recommendations concerning new efficient control systems installation or for up-grading the existing ones.
h. Identification of the best available technologies to be applied in each power plant to reduce pollution impacts.
i. Develop an Environmental Management Plan for the mitigation of the potentially negative impacts.
1. Ensure that all HSE Procedures/Policies & Plans are implemented and followed at all levels.
2. Investigation of Accident/Incident and Near Miss and suggesting remedial measures to the Management to prevent recurrence.
3. Conduct spot audits on vehicles, equipment and Maintenance.
4. Hazard analysis & Risk assessment of site activities and preparation of specific HSE Plan for the same.
5. Planning and conducting of Emergency Exercise, Mock drills and evaluate its effectiveness
6. Monitoring Work Permits and associated job safety plans
7. Conduct HSE Internal Training programs
8. Conduct Weekly/Monthly HSE Meetings.
9. Conduct Monthly inspections of facilities and suggest the Corrective actions to the Management.
10. Prepare the Monthly Internal HSE reports.
11. Review the risk assessment periodically and take appropriate control measures, update the Risk register.
12. Identify the Significant Environmental aspect and impacts and take the appropriate control measures.
13. Coordinate with Departments for the effective implementation of HSE Management system.
14. Conduct HSE Induction Training program for new employees.
15. Review and update the HSE documents by involving all personnel in the organization.
1. Participate in the implementation of the annual initiatives according to the Strategic Plan of the Federal Government.
2. Issuing Environmental Performance Certificate ( EPC ) For Industrial Establishments.
- Participate in the preparation of EPC guidelines.
- Reviewing documents, including environmental impact assessment studies submitted by the industrial facilities that have registered for EPC.
- Conducting field visits to the industrial establishments that nominated for EPC, Verification of application of environmental standards and regulations and EPC guidelines requirements.
- Participate in the final evaluation and selection of industrial establishments qualified for the certificate.
3. UAE free of plastic bags 2010-2013 initiative.
- Conducting field visits to industrial facilities producing plastic bags.
- Collecting statistics on the production capacity of oxo-biodegradable plastic bags To monitor the rate of reduction of the production of non-degradable bags until the beginning of 2013.
- auditing on the industrial plants producing plastic bags to follow up its commitment to the resolutions issued by Council of Ministers and the Ministerial Council for Services in this regard
- Inspection on industrial establishments to verify their commitment to implement the approved UAE standards for the Specification for Oxo-biodegradation of Plastic bags and other disposable Plastic objects.
4. Following-up the compliance of industrial facilities to the implementation of the requirements of environmental international conventions.
5. Auditing on industrial establishments to insure their commitment to the applicable regulations and standards according to the federal environmental law number 24 for the year 1999..
6. Participate in the development of legislation and standards for the management of solid and liquid wastes, medical and electronic waste.
7. Participate in the preparation, development of legislation & standards for the establishment, operation and rehabilitation of solid waste landfills and their integrated management.
8. Issuance of permits for the import and export of chemicals through UAE ports.
9. Providing technical advice to those concerned in the relevant authorities regarding environmental issues.
10. Participate in the activities of the Cleaner Production Centre.
11. Participate in the modernization and development of environmental legislation and standards relating to the Federal Law No. 24 of 1999 and its implementing regulations.
12. Participate in meetings of chemicals & hazardous waste department to prepare for the 2011-2013 strategy.
13. Preparation of periodic technical reports.
14. Participation in meetings, workshops and conferences related to chemicals and hazardous wastes department.
15. Any other duties assigned by the director of chemicals and hazardous wastes department.
1. Auditing on industrial establishments to ensure their compliance with federal law No. 24 / 1999 in cooperation with local competent authorities.
2. Following up with local competent authorities the status of commitment of industrial establishment to relevant international environmental conventions.
3. Participate in Operating The Ambient Air Monitoring Network of the UAE, this system is an integrated Hi-Tech which reports the Federal Air Quality status of six emirates by 50 stations (Abu Dhabi 25 stations, Dubai 12 stations, Ajman 2 stations, Ras Al Khaima 4 stations, Fujairah 6 stations, Sharjah 1 station) in the UAE.
4. Carrying out environmental studies & researches relevant to UAE Environmental Strategy.
5. Reviewing EIA for industrial establishments.
6. Participate in other FEA projects as per instruction.
1. Member of EIA committee ( Environmental impact assessment ) :-
- Approval of Environmental consultant companies in Sharjah.
- Studying the requests introduced by the industrial establishments to issue the environmental permits, or remitting it to Environmental Consultant Company if it's necessary.
- Reviewing EIA reports introduced by consultant companies for approval or rejection.
2. The focal point with Federal Environmental Agency to assess the compliance of industrial establishments with the international conventions which signed and acceded by UAE (The Federal Environmental Agency ), For examples :
- The Montreal Protocol on Substances That Deplete the Ozone Layer.
- Stockholm Convention on persistent organic pollutants (pops).
3. Periodic and Emergency Inspections for all industrial establishments (Aluminum factories, Paints factories, Plastic, Gold Smith Factories ….etc), and taking the suitable actions.
4. Inspection of chemicals trading and manufacturing, Paints, Jewelries, Plastics and other industries for their environmental permitting, licensing and their waste disposal
5. Release of chemical consignments from Sharjah airport, Hamriyah port and Khalid Port.
6. Supervision the marine environment and monitoring sea water pollution in Sharjah, and provide the best solutions to control it.
7. Collecting samples from the different sites to analyze it in the environmental lab, and compare it with EPS standards.
8. Participate in some conferences, meetings, training programs, presentations, and technical committees.
9. Dealing with any Complaints come to EPS and approve the suitable solution.
• Supervision Water tank maintenance and Cleaning to private companies and Governmental Authorities (Cairo Airport, Hospitals, Hotels, Factories …. Etc)
