• Technical Project Manager on variety of projects, procurements and strategy initiatives:
Hospital commissioning activities: Manage multiple projects and activities related to hospital devices/network/infrastructure commissioning and readiness assessment. Manage infrastructure handover from Cerner/Philips teams to Sidra team. This includes technical team knowledge transfer activities, upgrading backend servers’ service support coverage with vendors (IBM, HP, EMC); Upgrade firmware to latest supported patch levels, servers’ OS, Citrix, and VMWare to match requirements for upgrading Cerner Millennium code 2015 from 2012. Procure, install, test and integrate IT Peripheral’s with hospital medical devices. Fetalink and cart held devices testing and commissioning. WiFi hubs, wireless and hand held devices testing and commissioning. Test applications delivery through VDI clients.
Cerner and Philips Engagements: Work as a technical project manager representing the client "Sidra Medical & Research Center" in most of the Cerner implementations. This included the implementation of Cerner Millennium power chart FirstNet, Suginet, Pharmnet, Ambulatory, Clairvia, PowerInsight, PowerScribe-Radiology/Cardiology Voice Recognition, 724 Access etc. from functional and infrastructure perspective on the different environment, Dev, UAT and Prod. From the functional perspective, I worked with the clinical project managers on different teams to ensure the configuration to all user scenarios, patient journey and workflows were done correctly and all test scripts were executed to the satisfaction of the Sidra clinical users. Also, part of the testing was to ensure that the application interfaces and delivery were executed according the virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) requirements.
Work with both Cerner and Philips project managers and technical architects to ensure both vendors are abiding by Sidra standards. Both Cerner and Philips hardware and software should comply with Sidra enterprise architecture in terms of server virtualization, use of SAN storage, application high availability, disaster recovery, failover and failback, and load balancing. Also all applications have to comply with security requirements in terms of use of active directory/LDAP integration, access control, sensitive information protection, anti-virus checks, vulnerability assessment, software updates and patching plans. Vendors should provide clear and detailed documentation covering all required topics to get approval to install and configure their hardware/software in the data center. Incompliant hardware/software needs a mitigation plan accompanied with an exception request and management approval to proceed with installations in the data center. Exceptions are timely based and get reviewed quarterly for compliance.
Cerner Systems: PowerChart, Clairvia, Fetalilnk, Surginet, PharmNet, FirstNet, etc.
Philips Systems: Radiology PACS, Cardiology PACS, CVIS, Mach7/VNA, IEM, etc.
Sidra Indoor Navigation System: Project Sponsor and champion to the executive level and secure buy-in. Sidra Medical and Research Center required the development of a mobile application that offers visitors and staff the utility to knowing their physical location in the Sidra building, turn-by-turn directions to a searched destination such as their doctor’s office, and can also send targeted offers and alerts to users based on where they are in the building.
Sidra Enterprise Content Management Project: Work in capacity of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) & Enterprise Portal (EP) project manager and subject matter expert to lead the project team through procurement, vendor evaluation, vendor selection, and on boarding of the ECM/EP vendor.
In the course of this engagement I have developed project charter that authorizes the project. I also developed the communication plan, risk plan & quality management plan.
• Sept 2006 - Aug 2011: UnitedHealth Group (California - United States): Development lead and subject matter expert in content management, workflow, and letter
generation for Insurance claims' processing applications. Provide technical leadership,
collect requirements and design applications for the below mentioned enterprise systems: Intranet Document Retrieval System: IDRS is United Health Group document
acquisition and retrieval flagship for paper claims. Manage more than 1 billion documents of the enterprise content. Myriad of applications under IDRS, such as NY credentialing,
TRACR, Central Appeals, Medicare, Medicaid, Ovations and Americhoice paper claims.
Enterprise Document Storage System: EDSS is UHG data acquisition and retrieval
system for EDI claims. EDSS stores more than four billion EDI claims' data and related
documents. Data is distributed among many security groups span across the enterprise
supporting platforms such as UFE (claims highway), TOPS, COSMOS (claim systems),
NDB, CES, CDB (eligibility systems), ISET, IDT (customer service applications) and
SummaryCheck. Different data groups retrieve claims' data and with different retrieval
indices. Documents' types include EOBs, PRAs, Health Statements, Reports and Letters.
Enterprise Content Management & Architecture: ECMA Comprised of multiple
content management applications built on Oracle Stellent platform. These applications support various business units including PacifiCare, Ovations marketing, Appeals &
Grievances, Health Services and provide functionalities including document archival,
multiple rich content format support and basic workflow. DocView is one of the key
Stellent applications that include functionality for printing/mailing reports through printing
vendor. Other commonly used Stellent applications are TMS (Translation Management
Systems), A&G (utilized by Appeals & Grievances team), ECAA (Clinical Archive
Application for storage of high resolution images for Health Services)
Enterprise Letter Generation System: ELGS ELGS-ClientLetter is a flexible and easily
configurable, enterprise-wide letter generation system that is rules-based and can work with the transactional systems throughout the organization. Within ELGS' core is
ClientLetter, which is a document generation application supporting high volume batch
production and transaction-driven documents. ELGS currently used by TOPS, COSMOS
(claim processing systems), CareOne (clinical application), CES (Eligibility system) and interfaces with Duncan, ECMA, EDSS, and Rightfax.
Workflow Automation for Non keyable Documents: WAND Workflow automation of conflict and appealed claims under different United Health networks such as UNET,
OptumHealth and OneNet. Paper claims scanned in IDRS and non-keyable documents
loaded to WAND work queues for processing. WAND workflow objects use IDRS as document repository. BancTec's Plexus workflow engine is used on the backend.
Prior Authorizations Approval Letters (CareOne to ELGS batch integration): Development lead to pioneer analysis effort on creating batch integration for clinical prior
authorization letters approvals sent by clinical systems through CareOne application.
Letters are batched in XML request file based on integration schema and sent to ELGS.
ELGS parse and validate requests' format, then sent request to Client Letter engine to generate letters in RTF format based on selected letter template. Letters are sent to
Duncan (printing vendor) for standard/expedite processing. After mailing letters and sending reconciliation file to CareOne, letters are archived as PDF on Oracle Stellent
DMS repository.
AmeriChoice Medicaid integration with UnitedHealthCareOnline: This effort is part of
UnitedHealth main initiative to consolidate different services under UnitedHealthCare
Online. Americhoice moved Medicaid services from Americhoice.com to
UnitedHealthCareOnline.
• Sept 2003 - Sept 2006: Keane/Pacificare (California): Senior development consultant: Responsible for the company XML based workflow and document management
applications. Provide input for future technology utilization, production servers'
stabilization and new applications design.
Automated Logon Request System (ALRS): Pioneered the design, development and enhancement efforts on the ALRS application for three years. ALRS is a web-based
application used to grant PacifiCare network users access to different resources in the network such as shared drives, databases and applications. More than two hundred
systems' accesses provided through ALRS.
Active Directory Migration: Played major role in design and coding online and batch
processes to support PacifiCare users and computers migrations from NT domain to
Active directory.
Spanish Letters Generation: In effort for PacifiCare to reach its Hispanic customers,
PacifiCare initiate a project to generate letters according to language of preference
extracted from the mainframe data. Developed several batch and online components to collect data elements from the mainframe through reflection, determine the letters
category and bookmarks from Filenet Visual Workflow queues, launch Microsoft Word
ActiveX, fill word document bookmarks with Spanish verbiage and send letters to printer.
• Mar 2003 -Aug 2003: Unisys Corporation (California): Filenet Architect. Design,
develop and implement Service Credit Workflow application for CalPERS (California
Public Employees Retirement System) . CalPERS workflow integrates four different
business processes (Retirement, Beneficiary Designation, Inquiry and Service Credit)
• Jan 2003 - March 2003: Michigan State's Bureau of Vehicle and Driver Records
(Deloitte Consulting): FileNet Consultant: Integrate the department's eProcess
application with the existing client server and mainframe applications. Implement
messaging functionality to enable the client server application to retrieve work object data from its database and display it on its user interface concurrently with the eProcess
application. Debug and maintain background processes that match and update workflow.
• July 2002- Nov 2002: Accenture (Connecticut): FileNet Consultant: Analyze business
requirement to translate them into functional requirements, business process and workflow definition. Write technical design specification for workflow thin client logon,
Work object selector to interface with the out of the box step processor.
• Nov 2001- July 2002: The Hartford (Connecticut): FileNet eProcess consultant: Work
closely with The Hartford and FileNet Professional services technical analysts to define the client's requirements specifications, parking lot unsolved issues, Functional Design
Specification document, Detailed Design document, Workflow definition, work queues for the Affinity Personal Lines Imaging System. Develop a detailed system architecture
model that incorporates the FileNET's IDMDS and Panagon eProcess technologies.
• Jan 2001- Oct 2001: Software Consulting Group (Pennsylvania): FileNet developer: SCG is full IT consulting firm specialized in customizing and enhancing FileNet out of the box products. SCG provide complete set of workflow and IDM solutions using FileNet
image and content services libraries.
Johnson & Johnson Health Care System Supply Chain: Design and develop a client
server imaging system that replaces the document microfilming system.
Merck Web Services Email notification: Using thin client Panagon Web Services to create email notification functionality that automate the viewing, opening, checkout,
checkin, version control and bookmarking documents, folders and Stored Searches.
SCG Visual Workflo shell (M&T Bank): Develop a VB thick client application for the client using FileNet Visual Workflo object model.
SCG eProcess shell: Customize out of the box eProcess product functionality (Java
Applets) with pure ASP pages to browse InBox and work queues, Launch new work
Items and attach documents to them, create an ASP Step processor and search function.
ACS (Applied Card Systems): Create several complex Crystal Reports for data analysis and mining. Configure Crystal Server to run reports periodically.
