National Water Company

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

July 2009 - Present

NWC is a 100% owned Joint Stock Company of the Ministry of Finance KSA, and was formed by the Ministry of Water & Electricity, to privatise the Water & Wastewater sector in Saudi Arabia in 2008.In twin capacities as a Financial Advisor to the CEO & Executive Director of Business Development, I am a member of NWC’s core strategic decision team.

Mandate amongst others include creating businesses with new Revenue streams, commercializing such businesses by initiating successful start-ups through scouting, negotiating & integrating international and local partners in the water and waste water sector of the country. includes studying & proposing to continue with implementing the Wave 2 of the NWC privatisation process of the existing cities, relating to the Water sector in the country.
Combines astute strategic, business and financial management skills along with a track record of revenue and profit growth throughout various business development stages. The processes is advanced by integrating closely with internationally renowned technical, management, legal & Financial consultancy houses like KPMG, Booz, AT Kearney, E&Y amongst others.

• Created & incubated new Revenue Streams through commercializing wastewater sale contracts in excess of SRB 5.0
• Led in the conceptualization, formulation & creation of a Regional Water & Wastewater Training Center for NWC.
• Structured ROT concessions/sales for run down assets.
• Leading & Working closely with a consortium of Technical, legal and commercial consultants to privatise the W& WW operations of the city of Riyadh initially and subsequently of other cities in the KSA.
• Identify, negotiate, finalize and then manage and maintain working relationships with the Private Sector, both Local and International.
• Analyse potential privatisation projects and conduct a comprehensive analysis of their viability and returns.
• Discussions with banks & other lending institutions.

RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS:
• NWC TRAINING CENTER:
"NWC Training Center” in Jeddah, as a hub for not only the country but the MENA region as a “Profit Center” Vs the earlier proposed “Cost Center” Immediate savings to NWC in CAPEX in excess of approx. SAR 200 Million

• PRIVATISATION OF RO PLANT:
The successful initiation, conceptualization and subsequent implementation of the "first of its kind concept” of partnership with the Private Sector. The Immediate Savings to NWC as Capex in excess of approx. SAR 70 Million. Additional revenue generation in excess of approx. SAR 348 Million.

• FORMATION, INCUBATION & SPIN OFF OF TSE BU:
Developing and incubating the TSE BU (2010 - 2012), involved in scouting & educating potential customers, negotiation and commercialization of the Long Term Bankable Contracts for the sale of TSE in the cities of Riyadh, Jeddah, Taif and Madinah. The net realisation by NWC in total revenues was in excess of SAR 5.3 Billion. Subsequently spun off TSE BU as a independent unit in 2012.

BUSINESS PRIVATISATION INITIATIVE:

• After conceptualizing, leading NWC‘s team in the formation of 2 new JV’s with PSP.
• Developed and natured the journey of privatisation of being a world class water company, the next step is to develop private participation through PPP contract. This has been accomplished by the approval of the Board of the “Business Privatisation Initiative” (BPI) for the city of Riyadh, to be followed by other cities within KSA.

This initiative will result in multiple benefits to the country as a whole through resource management, its stakeholders via technical and commercial viability (which conservatively estimated would result in COST EFFICIENCY & SAVINGS over the next 20 years) and the final consumers through improved services.
